Fear for the Feathers

I have no idea why people are afraid for the feather blades. I have read many reviews on Amazon about these blades and many reviewers claim that these are dangerous and that there will be blood when shaving with these.

I'm still trying to find the perfect blade for me, the Derbies are a no, Shark Chromes are a no, Astra SP are ok. But the Feathers are great, I have shaved 3 times with a feather and its still sharp. I'm using Clubman Bay Rum aftershave and it doesn't sting that much as a couple shaves ago (still a newbie).

Don't believe the reviews, these feathers are great and perfectly safe when used properly. Many people base their reviews on negative experiences which are caused by a wrong technique. So it's the people who to blame not the product.

I love the feathers I will buy 500 of them!

I have LOTS of Feather DE (and disposable straight razor blades).

They are a nice product.

+1

Feathers were the first DE blade I purchased, and continue to be my favorite even after trying others.

I love the great Feathers:thumbup:, I get seven smooth shaves out of each blade... and have stockpiled just 600:scared:... Quite a small bunch, isn't it?

Of course, YMMV

There are too many variables at play to suggest that someone who doesn't get on with a Feather has a 'wrong' technique. Good luck to you if a Feather works great from the first shave but I wouldn't be the one to suggest that some of the very experienced shavers around here who don't like Feathers are doing it wrong.

I normally use Feathers when shaving, and I actually usually get less cuts with them than with others, since they just glide right through any facial hair with ease.

Man feathers are my favorite blade also I just got a feather artist and only have one shave with it but I love it.

The first time I used Feathers, I was new as well and spooked by the reviews. Like you, I used them and love them. They're my go-to blade now! I use less pressure with them, so I end up cutting myself less.

Thats what I mean. People act like the Feathers are so dangerous, while they're not. Couple weeks ago I got my Parker shavette, I used a derby first. The result was horrible, later I tried an Astra SP, the results where ok but my technique has became better. When I used it with a Feather blade, WOW I was amazed, I had a couple cuts and razor burns but I blame that on my technique. I noticed they're not that dangerous as people claim they are, yes you can cut your self with it but that can also happen with a Derby blade.

Well the most reviews on Amazon for the feathers are written by newbies. If I supposed to believe them I would say they're acting like they're shaving with a machette. It's simply not fair negative rating a product while a person doesn't know how to use it properly. I don't like Derby blades and Sharks, I don't say they're bad they just simply can't get along with my type of beard grow, however they can be the best blade for some other guy with a different kind of beard grow.

The reason why I have started this topic is there is so many fear of the Feather I don't think that the Feathers deserve this kind of status.

some blades need a couple shaves before they start to shine. feathers (imo) are good to go right out of the box. i usually get a lot of resistance on and around my chin. load up a feather and it is the hot knife through butter.

No clue as for fear, I have a 100 count box of black label Feather blades in my cabinet and I use them pretty exclusively they give a great close shave and work superbly. My 2nd fave blade is Astra SP...looking to nab a 100 count box of those some time maybe.
