Favorite Christmas song

I'm a sucker for a good Christmas song. Some of them really hit me deep for some reason.
My favorite is "O Holy Night" by far.
A good version and I have to take a minute of silence.
Heard this on the way back from lunch today and was wondering if any songs affect y'all like that and what are they?

I have two favorites, in each end of the scale, "Oh Holy Night", specially when sung by a strong tenor, and "Driving home for christmas" by Chris Rea.

Anything, but please, PLEASE, for the sake of humanity, NOT Bruce Springstien's "Santa Claus is comin' to town"....:thumbdown

Absolutely the worst.

Ever.

Silent Night is a fave, as is O Holy Night as mentioned above.

I heard the Bells on Christmas Day

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old familiar carols play.
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of Peace on earth, good will to men.

I thought how as the day had come
The belfries of all Christendom
Had roll'd along th' unbroken song
Of Peace on earth, good will to men.

And in despair, I bow'd my head:
"There is no peace on earth," I said,
"For hate is strong and mocks the song,
Of Peace on earth, good will to men."

Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
And with the sound the carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

It was as if an earthquake rent
The hearthstones of a continent,
And made forlorn, the households born
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

:thumbup1: And Shane's "Christmas Lullaby" with The Popes always brings a tear to my eye.

One of my favorites is "Frosty the Snowman" by Leon Redbone and Dr. John off Redbone's Christmas Island CD.

"Little Drummer Boy'' can get annoying after continued listening but I still like the song. Also, "Silent Night" is one of my favs.

Oh come on the Boss rules. You need to see that song performed live. Hilton Coliseum, Ames IA, November 1984.

I love "Oh Come All Ye Faithful." If you have not heard this it is a cool Metal version of the song.

White Christmas will be one of the movies I will take the time to watch at this time of year. Despite being produced in 1954 it is very much what I first understood as being Christmas music.

I grew up singing Christmas songs from hand outs that were published by Eaton's department store. . . . Even at Church events . . .and these hand outs were carefully collected to be reused. These were classic Christmas songs. . . God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen, Good King Wenceslas, O' come all Yea Faithful and so on. things that the Salvation Army band would play down town in the Christmas season.

Speaking of the Sally Ann . . . this You Tube link was posted here, I think, last year. Despite the ad they've tacked onto the front I find this very touching.
