Congrats on your Fatboy! I too have a D4 and love every bit of it. I don't use it past a 1 or 2 setting because I tend to shave every day and I don't want to donate to the blood bank.
Older premium grade Gillette razors are nice shavers.

Thanks, guys. I was planning to start on #3, but maybe it makes more sense to begin with #1. No need to start off on the wrong foot by scraping my face raw.

Nice pick up, These Fatboy razors are built like a Tank, Also sometimes if lower setting's dont work to good for you don't be afraid to crank it up, higher settings don't always mean more aggressive, simetimes they turn out to be more efficient and Smoother shaves

You could probably start on 4 with no problem. Also, you can repaint the numbers--just do a search on that.
The Fatboy is a great razor. You'll like it.
If you see one around, have a look at it's less portly brother the Slim.

Nice find, i too found my fatboy in the wild, i thought to myself that day "ill set out today to find one" and low and behold i did. Only thing is i don't think it suits my face.
