Fat Boy doors--not closing tight

Well, pictures could probably explain this better than I could with words. The doors don't close down all the way tight next to the bar. I own two Fat Boys and they both have this problem. I've only shaved with one of them and it shaved just fine--the problem is probably just aesthetic, but I still would like to figure out how to fix this. Any ideas? Thanks.

With my other TTO's, the doors close right up against the center bar. On both of my Fat Boys, there is a small space between the edges of the doors and the center bar, which is what I tried to show in the pictures (you can see a gap between the doors and the center bar).

All of my fatboys seem have that small gap. As long as the razor closes down tight, with even blade gap, you should be good to go

Clamping down is what matters. The gap to the center bar is there to allow the doors to clamp down without bottoming on the bar first.

Hard to tell from the pics but I would agree that I don't think this is a problem. I have seen some TTO's go right up to the edge and other resemble yours. As long as they are closing down to the bottom plate fully and evenly I would not worry about it.

Have you looked at the gap with the blade in and tightened ?

I've found that with some with a blade in, the gap actually disappears, it's only there when you close the doors "empty".

ive had 2 fatboys and both have had this. from what i've heard. this is normal.

( Not that it would have been an issue, as long as the bars are straight and exposure is even )
