Fash Wash for Psoriasis/Eczema/Dermatitis

What's a good face wash for someone that might have Psoriasis/Eczema/Dermatitis?

I'm looking for something natural with good ingredients which isn't harsh on the skin and doesn't contain a strong scent.

My friend,
My background os the ER.
First see a dermatologist!
Trearments for the face might include a steroid prep, which needs ti be used gingerely to the face.
The prep works but you can not use it each time for 10 days, or a change to the skin color may happen.

I advise using rose or lavendar preps, good for the skin
after you shave use a Kiehls creme de corps lotion, apply using Thayers with hazel with no alcohol and with rose or lavendar scent, that has aloe vere.
You will have a nice after with a nice lotion.
A good lotion is good for the skin.
Again get a clear diagnosis of this, there are more skin things than the above, some require an oral antibiotic.
The dermatologist may recommend a good lotion !!!
Again, the face is subject to skin changes in the color with OTC steroid creams!
People find out too late

Good luck i think thr thayers as an after shave is nice, there are a lot of others not alcohol afters.
Atkisons does a nice lavendar, Taylor of bond street does a lavendar after wash.
D harris a nice rose warer after.
Santa Maria Novella a nice rose.
you will have to include flowers in your after shaves.

Nice day bud
Jimmy

I second the dermatologist suggestion, but also suggest CeraVe. It is not natural, but it is fragrance free and contains ingredients that are supposed to be beneficial for people with skin conditions such as those you mentioned. They have a hydrating one and one for oily skin.

Sorry I wasn't clear but I've already been to a dermatologist and the diagnosis was "psoriasis/eczema/dermatitis". Anyways, my purpose of this thread was to find a face wash that is suitable for this type of skin. Something that doesn't have a strong scent, is natural and good for dry and sensitive skin.

Yesterday I went to my Whole Foods and a helpful lady recommended Green Beaver Daily Facial Cleanser. It is a Canadian company but we have many Canadians here and I strongly suggest this face wash to them if they were looking for the things I was in a cleanser.

Stores across Canada:

What I really like about this cleanser are the ingredients. It's got 6 natural fruit acid extracts. I think this has a good chance to be a winner.

Here are the ingredients:

Aqua, Coco Glucoside, Glycerin, Decyl Glucoside, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Xantham Gum, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Camellia Senensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Extract, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid

So you have seen dermatology. And it seems either or. Leads me to think a dermatitis. Eczema and Psoriasis are very, very classic in its appearance.

Shaving problems can lead to a dermatitis. A reaction to a chemical in an after shave, or a shaving cream etc.
Could be soaps, the list is long.
First of all, you did right in getting natural.
Again, florals(rose/lavendar etc) are a classic scent, very british.
And good for your situation.

Again, look at my recommendations as well. Thayers with hazel, with no alcohol. And with ros and aloe. It actuall is a nice after shave, and very good for the skin.
Again, pointed out to you there are many nice, after shaves. TOBS, D Harris have rose waters. SMN the same, but a bit more.
Atkinsons.
What you got, the canadian thing may work.
Also, a good face lotion, after you shave.
I put my lotion, after my after shave on, makes it easy to do.

Also, going forward, you can use EDT, or colognes. Just seek pure/natural.
The chemical in the cologne industry, will kill eventually.
My advice, see if it is shaving tech?
Stay with your dermatologist.
Do not use steroid creams over the counter, on the face!!!

Again, the cleanser you got is fine, you can seek out natural after shave, as what is recommended here.
Again, another one. Roberts rose water, from Italy. 400 ml bottle, like 9 bucks.
Atkinson lavander water, and after shave. I think 20 bucks.
The waters I have told you, are a very good facial toner, will not hurt the skin.
And have a nice scent to them.
Dont forget LOTION.

Good luck
Jimmy

Yes Jimmy I think it might be dermatitis as well because it does not look like psoriasis. An MD which is a family member even said this. Main thing is that it's patches of dry skin.

I actually already have your recommendation! I use Thayers unscented with aloe witch hazel occasionally. Usually when I get a rough shave. Very nice!

So basically my products are:

1) Green Beaver natural cleanser
2) Thayers unscented with aloe witch hazel
3) 100% unrefined Shea Butter or sometimes 100% pure Argan Oil (both are very moisturizing...good natural lotions)

I like lavender scent so I use lavender shea butter body soap. Thanks for your very useful help sir!

I have psoriasis as well, and just use regular bar soap, occasionally a wipe down with witch hazel, and the creams my dermatologist prescribed. works pretty well.

Im right there with you . I have a mix of all the above that plays havoc with me since high school .
"Seb Derm/psoroiasis/eczema" they can be similar and vastly different I believe that most derms can have difficulty telling "some of these apart " unless further research is done besides a visual exam:
You can have all three I believe as well
I try to stay away from the steroid creams as they will eventually leave you with more issues ...liberal use of steroid at max.

Things Im using .....Thayers as others have said gets a nod from me ....pre shave oils are needed when i shave too not irritate and retain moisture before shave cream application as well ......................... all in moderation.
most cleansers are too harsh for my face so I tend to not use any soap on my face and let the shave cream kinda do the cleaning with the aforementioned oils .
Im playing around witt the idea of watering down some cleansers (making my own) ,
I have used tea tree oil cleansers ..dr. bronners peppermint on my face and have decent results YMMV.
Good luck
The sun always helps my skin but i tend not to do that as my families skin is prone to skin cancers.
...and what clueless dude added I agree ....
"3) 100% unrefined Shea Butter or sometimes 100% pure Argan Oil (both are very moisturizing...good natural lotions)"
and im going to grab his cleansers as I think hes spot on #2 and #3

I never put cologne or aftershave unless Im shead up or ill dry up like a leaf

I have dermatitis which is the pits. I use either cetaphil or noxema, sometimes I even get the Walmart r store kind and both those work well as a face wash. But when I get the occasional flare up, I use apple cider vinegar then wash the spot with t gel or whatever anti dandruff shampoo I have.
i also find a good moisturizing lotion helps too. My wife has sold Mary Kay stuff and their moisturizer is the bee's knees and I have tried all sorts, but I find that one to be the lightest.
However, I have been trying to use more natural products so I will definitely look into that soap MilesTeg mentioned.

I have a mixture of problems (dryness/exzema in some areas, chronic mild acne and oilyness in others), and this helps with them all: http://www.grandmaspureandnatural.com/

I use the regular formula lye soap, and use it as a mask at night. Truly amazing stuff.

Very interesting. Sounds like a winner. I might pick that up eventually when I run out of current stock of stuff. Thanks man!

Yep honestly 100% shea butter and argan oil are like life savers for me (YMMV). I don't use the creams dermatologists gave me either. I just use the stuff I mentioned above.

I only use balms and no cologne and sometimes no balm and only shea butter. So far my skin is holding up much better though I know the real test will come when winter comes around.

If you or anyone is interested in the facial cleanser, here is the link:

I have the same problem and i went to the dermatologist and she prescribed me a nigh cream whose name is Kelual by Ducray and i believe is the best no steroid cream for that skin condition.
For washing my face i use the Clinique Soap and is also very helpful.

Yeah I hear you on the winter. I hate to say it but sometimes my go to products dont work well either in that season.
Great thread...... I used to use clinique tonic type cleanser and while it had its merits it was pretty similar to a ten dollar thayers but was more like 30 bucks.
I have been using argan in my hair bar soap Mystic Waters and was surprised and happy to see your using it as a cleanser Im definetly going for that one ......
and yeah shea all the way baby.

hmmmmm.... Good reviews on Amazon very interesting Ducray Ictyane Cream for Dry Skin
I wont go to steroids on my face no matter how bad it gets ...just not worth it.

Something else that works wonders for dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis is Pine Tar soaps and shampoos. It's a traditional remedy and it's good for acne as well.

The products you've chosen look pretty good too.

Cheers
Linda

I'm not sure if any of you guys have tried this but my girlfriend and i do it with great results.

1/2 extra virgin Olive oil
1/2 caster oil
mix both oils and put into an empty bottle.

put a hot wash cloth on your face (or do this right after a hot shower) then put a small amount of this oil mixture in your palms and massage it into your face. after about one minute of massaging take a hot wash cloth and hold it against your face for another minute then wipe away the oil. The result has been great for us both!

Cetaphil is very mild and was recommended by my dermatologist. Only negative is that it doesn't lather a lot, however, it still cleans very well.

I've used some Pine Tar soaps for some excema patches and they work ok, but the scent may just not be worth it.. Little of that stuff goes a long, long way.

I had terrible problems with itchy, scaly, flaking skin on my forehead, eyebrows, and nose for the past few years. I tried all of the aforementioned creams, oils, potions, etc., without any relief. Then I started washing my face each morning in the shower with dandruff shampoo (Head & Shoulders, etc.) and after 10-14 days, not a trace of my former problems. I still use the same routine each morning and then use whatever aftershave I feel like using. BTW, I shave before showering.
