got a hold of my second fb, my first and only fb was user grade with a bit of brassing, still worked well and shaved great, but was on the lookout for one in better nick, spotted this one and it looked to have a lot of soap scum on it, glad i took the chance on this one, it seems whoever owned it shaved with it a few times, never cleaned it and just left it in a cupboard or something, no brassing, all black on the numbers, after a clean and polish its came up near mint, built like tanks these things. and after a clean up.

The "crust" may have actually saved you; no rust or tarnish could get through! The one I found had a lot of tarnish and rust; shaves great but not much to look at. Nice job on the cleanup.

That's not too bad at all. I had one once that was just encrusted in jet black muck to the point I had to scrape it off with plastic bits I cut up because no brush would do it.

baking soda in a jug with boiled water poured in,cif bathroom mouse and peek polish, these are the uk versions of scrubbing bubbles and maas, i think the encrusted soap scum does look gross, but it does seem to preserve the razor, its easy enough to clean off and is better than plate loss, you can sometimes find a real gem under all that gunk, its always worth the gamble if its not to pricey.
