? - Experiences with Shave Den Shop, or where to buy Voskhods domestically

Does anyone know of any vendors in the US or Canada who sell Voskhod blades and who are considered reliable/aren't banned? I recently placed an order with a company and discovered after the fact that they were banned from B&B. I'd rather not repeat the experience with a banned vendor or discover "after the fact" that my vendor choice wasn't a good one. I have had great luck with Westcoastshaving.com and Bullgooseshaving.com, but neither carry Voskhods (my understanding is that this was due to a fiasco where the distributor undercut all vendors to unload stock; alienating your entire vendor base didn't strike me as a great business idea).

My rationale for trying Voskhods is that they are reputed to be sharp and very smooth (a step above Astras for sharpness but not as unforgiving as Feathers). I am also trying an order of the Polsilver Super Iridiums for the same reasons.

I found Voskhods on the Shave Den Shop, but I can't find any feedback on this vendor. Apparently they are in Virginia.

Anyone know how the Shave Den Shop is, or know of alternate vendors with good reliability/customer service?

I bought a flat of Voskhods from them at the end of 2012, when they were having a "no postage" (or maybe $10 off postage?) special. I bought from them because, like you, I couldn't find the Voskhods anywhere else, and I was convinced after someone sent me ten blades (PIF'd) in with a b/s/t purchase. I figured so long as I was at it, I'd try their AS splash, too (their own signature, which is bay rum with bergamot), and a $0.15 plastic spoon for scooping shaving cream into a bowl for lathering, without having to use the brush in the tin of cream.

I was very pleased with all the products and service, and especially not paying the full customary postage charge (which seems unreasonably high to me, especially if just buying blades).

If you're ordering from TSD try out one of the lanolin shave soaps. They don't get a ton of coverage here but I think its a great product.

Allow me to give you two pieces of advice:

1. Don't always rule a shaving vendor out because they've been banned at B&B. This doesn't always happen because they were up to no good. Take Simpson for instance. Guys still buy them and they are arguably still the top shave brush company, but they aren't welcome here. Long story short, do your own research before passing judgement.

2. You should give Rapira Super Stainless blades a try in lieu of the Voshkods. Same company and in my opinion just as good a blade, if not a smidgen better. And best part, a 100 ct box can be had on Amazon right now for $12.50 with Prime shipping. Give them a shot, doubt you'll be disappointed!

I looked at the Rapira's and Ladas as well; those were on the longer "blades to buy" list. Right now the big two for me are Polsilver Super Iridiums and Voskhods. But ty re: Rapira's - they have a Platinum as well, and another 1-2 types if I recall correctly.
