Ever see the movie "Tin Cup"

Ever see the movie 'Tin Cup"? Remember when Ole Roy looses his swing right before the US Open. Well that is what has happend to me and my shave.... I dont know if I am supinating or pronating. If I breathing out of my left eye lid?.... I put my shave brush behind my ear....put all my change in my left pocket. Still hitting chili peppers up Lee Janses ***. My stroke feels like an unfloded lawn chair.
Everything was going great........All of a sudden everytime I shave it hurts!!!...Bad!!!.......and forget about smooth. I havent changed a thing as far as blades and razor. I have tried cycling thru different creams and soaps to see if it makes a difference....but to no availe. I have lost the smooth, soft, sweet feel of a great shave. My face hasnt hurt this bad since the day I made the switch from disposable to DE razor. What to do?

Walk away.

Give it some time.

Come back tomorrow. Try again. This time prep longer, try a hot towel on face and neck for 2 minutes, try a pre shave oil if you have it, or olive oil, then lather and let it sit on skin for at least 2 minutes...always get a smooth shave that way.

Godspeed my friend, it will happen.

"70 foot put...no way is he going to....oh my he drops it!...he did it!!!" That's what it will feel like.

Try a different blade?

Maybe you've got a dud blade? I've had stray ones in packs that felt like they'd either skipped the sharpener or were just found in the trash and thrown into the pack to make up the numbers.

Some good advice so far and what I would suggest is to go right back to basics. Don't try for the best shave that you have ever had and concentrate on making a good 1-pass shave (with perhaps a touch-up) so that you can work on technique without pressuring yourself for results.
Good luck, I hope that it comes back soon.

Relax, try to centre yourself. Approach it again as you did our first DE shave. Go slow and hopefully you will get your swing back.:001_smile

I found that after getting some time under "my belt", I started to move quickly as muscle memory started forming. Sometimes that resulted in me gettnig sloppy, putting too much pressure, etc. So, I took the advice of others and had to refocus myself. Good luck! :thumbup1:

Change something! You said that you haven't changed the razor/blade combination and you are getting bad shaves....try something different. Good advice about the renewed consentration on the prep and lathering techniques, also lower your expectations on the shave quality until you find the sweet setup and master your techniques. Go with a milder blade and remember the more stressed you get the more you are forcing the razor. Lighten up, relax and you will be putting on velvet greens. :001_cool:

OH SNAP!!...........The magic is back!!
Thanks for your replies. Yes..my blade angle was all wrong. Especially going ATG. Dont know how it happened. Just kind of slowly did. MAN......I cant stop rubbing my face. SO SWEET!!! Four passes and absolutley no pain or irratation.
I did try alittle AOS pre shave oil that I had a few samples of, but dont really think it contributed much.

Keep trying and don't give up!!

Even if you hole a 3-wood for a 13, you still holed a 3-wood from the fairway
