Tried that auto-band razor - - worst piece of face destroying junk that was every perpetrated upon the FACE of man. 
Rather ironic that they compare the Auto-Band to film in a camera. Both now obsolete technologies.
Funny reading you write that, when I just bid on and won another SLR camera, for 35 mm film . . I was using DEs from the mid-1960s onward, despite having been an Injector user for almost ten years (the exact start date isn't one I can recall, so it may well have been longer). I never tried either company's band type razors.
I did have an SLR, a Canon AE-1, when film was still popular. The newer one on its way is an EOS, but still for film.

From what I been reading it looks like regular cameras are becoming a sthing of the past. Nokia has a 20MP camera phone apparently.
I have seen posts here of people trying Gillette Blues from the '70's By that time they were using the same teflon coating as on the stainless blades. Most who tried them liked the results. Very similar to the Treet Durasharp carbon blades made today, with teflon coating.
