EJ BBB vs Rooney 3/1

Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out which brush to get for face lathering. I dont like the chubby handle style of the 1/1 and I have bigger hands so I think it would prove to be uncomfortable. In your experiences, how do the Rooney 3/1 and Edwin Jagger BBB stack up in terms of face lathering?

I dont like prickly brushes, I have the VDH badger and it feels like little pin pricks when I face lather.

As for the obligatory boar suggestions that will start rolling in :001_smile, I have the Semogue 1305 and I dont like it because its too small. I can only hold enough lather in it for 2 passes and then end up having to relather.

Thanks!

I have the EJ BBB and I don't like it for face lathering. I think I have fairly sensitive skin, but my VDH boar (yes, the one that came in the kit) feels MUCH nicer to face lather with. The EJ is prickly where as my well broken in VDH boar feels much nicer in comparison. Hard to believe I know, but I tried face lathering with the EJ just today. From now on I'll be face lathering with my boar, and hand lathering with the EJ BBB.

I assume that you mean a Rooney 3 in Super in which cause the Rooney is much less prickly than the Jagger best badger brush. You can however get the Rooney brush in pure and best in which cause they will be much like the Jagger. There are Jaggers in silver tip which are very good brushes.

Thanks guys, EJ BBB is officially out of the question

For face lathering, I'd say yeah. I do really like mine - it's easier to get more/thicker lather than the boar, but it just doesn't work well for face lathering (for me).

I once decided to try out a few new soaps/creams by just face lathering them with that brush... I don't remember how many I did - probably only 2 or 3 and my face hurt much more than any actual shave ever did.

I have a 1305 and a 3/1 silvertip. I think the 3/1 silvertip is a bit of a lather hog, but I'm still adjusting to it since I've only had it about a week. My previous badger was a Dovo, and that was just a mop.

I really like the Rooney, aside from the usual learning curve.

rooney to face lather creams... to avoid lather hog, use more product. hard soaps - hard to beat semogue 1305.

come over any time to check out my rooney
