What's new

Edwin jagger sea buckthorn soap

hey lads,

my new Edwin Jagger shaving soap has just turned up,and yum what a nice smell :) i have not used it yet and its the first soap

how long should it last around? its a 65g puck, and i shave most days.

sorry for the silly Q :)

ryan.

I heard so many good things about it that I bought it but haven't had very good luck in getting a good lather. I have been a bit dissapointed so far. I have a semogue 1305 so realize that it may be that it lathers better with a badger brush.

It should lather fine with a boar. Actually a boar will probably work better. You're probably not doing it right. Shake out the water from your brush after you soak it, then hit it hard with the brush. Really load it with soap until all the bristle clump together with a ton of soap. Then move the brush to your lather bowl and start swirling. Only add water one teaspoon at a time, swirl some more and you will get lather.

used the soap for the first time today and very happy with it! got a great creamy lather, and the smell was great! cant wait for my next shave :)

thanks lads.

Most soaps will last a long, long time. I loved the EJ Sea Buckthorn until I switched to straights. Not that there is anything wrong with it and straights. I just get far better results from tallow and/or lanolin.

I liked the shave it gave me, but the scent started to bother me a bit.

* has anyone tried the Sandalwood?

I really like the smell. It is fresh and reminds me of the feeling you get from the wind on a clean beach.
I quess that's why T&H call some of their fragrances 'oceanic'.

I wasn't impressed with the sandalwood scent. So not impressed that I only used it a few times and sold it off.

In fact, the only thing preventing me from trying out the SB is the fear that it will be as weak as the sandalwood.
