edwin jagger medium brush

I have the Crabtree & Evelyn Best Badger Brush, which is the same thing.

The EJ Medium is a good brush. Its beauty lies in the fact that it is perfectly average in all aspects. Its specs hit the middle of the bell curves for all things we look at in brushes ... Knot Size / Loft / Softness / Density / Handle Size / etc. It is appropriate for bowl or face lathering, and does well whether using soaps or creams.

That $49.71 price on Amazon is a bit high, but it does include the stand and free shipping. You can probably find the brush by itself for around $40 from one of the many B&B e-vendors.

Don't worry about it being too small. It is more than adequate for any size of hands or face, and whips up 3-pass lather easily.

I, too, have an EJ medium best (probably the same CE BBB as dmp802). It was my first "good" brush after my Tweezerman. I completely agree with dmp802, the brush is competent in all respects. .

If you have decided on an Edwin Jagger, you may want to check-out The English Shaving Company. They are EJ factory direct, have the largest EJ selection, good prices (with no VAT or tax to the USA), and often have free or reduced shipping promotions for the holidays. They also provide the specs for all the brushes.

It is my first brush. My beginning kit

I own the EJ BB in medium; like others have said it is a solid performer. Spec wise, it is a 21mm knot with a 53mm loft, handle is approx. 46mm so total brush height is 99mm.

Very soft hair, not very dense and many would call it floppy. Regardless, it has been my only brush for 2-3 years and has performed well with both creams and soaps.

FYI - My handle is the old persian jar style, different than the pics above.

The EJ brush from Amazon should be very similar in size to the Crabtree & Evelyn brush from EJ. All EJ "medium" brushes have 21mm knots and handles that generally range from 46 - 50mm.

Below is a photos of my C&E EJ BBB, a Whipped Dog (22mm knot), and an Omega boar 10056 (23mm knot) next to a new stick of Arko for comparison.
