What's new

eBay Score I hope it cleans up well.

I was wanting a blade container to put in a travel kit and came across this. It only had 1 bidder for $9.95 so I hit it with another $0.50 and it stuck. Not sure (being a newbie and all) what I got. Looks like a short tooth New OC but I have not seen the fluted octagonal tip handle before. I am sure it is not rare but first one I've seen. The seller didn't have any info on model or year in their listing. Looks like the blade container is in good shape and after all, that is what I was shopping for. So I guess, no harm done. :sneaky2:

Any ideas on what I actually got?

I saw this one. Love the handle but I found a Big Ben on the bay here in the UK that I bid on. Will be interesting to see what you have there. It's hard to tell the shape of the under side of the head. A cased, good looking razor for a few bucks, seems good to me.

The case and blade box certainly seem to be consistant with a 30's Bostonian. I think the head might be as well, but that HANDLE?????

Head and handle are a match. It's not a NEW, it's either a Cooper or a Swee-Do.

Judging from the handle knurling, I'm guessing Swee-Do.

It was designed to take special blades, but standard DE blades can be put on, and once tightened down the blade evens out into a nice functional razor.

Thanks, it does look to be a Swee-Do. I have never heard of them. I wonder if that Swee-Do handle will fit a gillette 3 piece head cap? I could put that handle on one of my early Gillette OC Heads inplace of the small diameter Ball Tip handle if it will fit.

Hi Alex,

I contacted the seller. It is definately a Swee-Do. Seller said they thought that was a model name for a Gillette razor.

I have no desire to modify blades in order to use the Swee-Do so, I am hoping I can usse the handle on one of my early Gillettes. Price was certainly right so no big deal.

You don't have to modify a blade to make it work. Just tighten it down hard and it'll line up just fine.
That center bit that's too big for a regular blade will just bend the blade on the inside.
