What's new

Ebay razors arrived...(LOTS of pictures)

I stopped in a small antique store earlier this week, asked the older fella working there if he had any shaving stuff, he didnt but thought he might have a razor at home.
Dropped in yesterday to see him and he had found his razor...a fat handled Tech, looked to be in good condition, just needed a cleaning.
Since he went to the trouble of finding it for me, I bought it and a small antique table for $20

Appears to have a Z2 date code...interesting

I also received 2 ebay shipments yesterday... bought a week apart they arrived on the same day...it was like Christmas :biggrin1:

First was this single razor purchase..a 1946-47 Aristocrat.

It has some plating loss but for the age and the price I'm happy with it

Also scored this brush..iti s a Strong Set, made of wood and has a pearl white paint job...I really like it
proxy.php

This is cool...a single edge blade dispenser
proxy.php

It has 3 or 4 new GEM blades in it, I took 1 out before I realized it doesnt go back in :biggrin1:
proxy.php

I could not tell from the auction if the last razor was in a very bad Khaki case..
proxy.php

Wow..rough shape...
proxy.php

The contents didnt look too bad considering.. the Khaki Set printing is still visible
proxy.php

The blade case is pretty bad...
proxy.php

proxy.php

After prying it open, I found it contained alot of blades...
proxy.php

The head of the razor still had the blade in it...along with old whiskers skin and blood...
proxy.php

I noticed that there were actually 2 blades stuck together...the original Trac 2 :biggrin1:
proxy.php

The razor itself is in not too bad of condition
proxy.php

The ball end is a bit gross...
proxy.php

The cool part is that it was made in 1918...
proxy.php

And is marked Property US Army
proxy.php

I cant believe no one bid on this near mint beauty :biggrin1:

I will post more pictures after I get everything cleaned up...might take a while

Heres the group pic of yesterdays haul

Thanks for looking
Kevin

Remove existing khaki fabric. Get some khaki fabric. Use old fabric as a pattern, glue new fabric over old case. Easier than it sounds, I promise you.

P.S. suhweeet haul.

Wow, Kevin, you sure have been busy! i hope the shipping to Canada was not too expensive. Enjoy the razors, my friend.

Cleaned them up and they turned out pretty good...still have to do some touch ups but you can see the difference

I just picked up the same 46-47 aristocrat, complete set like yours. How much did it run you if you don't mind me asking?

I think I'll just keep my eye open for a new case...this one is toast, rusted out including the hinges

Shipping to Canada kills almost all eBay deals for me...got lucky with these 2, the Aristocrat came from a fellow Canadian and because I was the only bidder on the lot and it had very reasonable shipping rates, it worked out well

You really did a nice job on all of them. I am most surprised by the Old Type from the Khaki set, as it cleaned up much better than I would have expected.

Congradulations on such a nice score and a job well done!!!

Hirsute

Used to have fun with Commander Yellow Pantyhose
Very nicely done! Would you mind posting your cleanup routine for these? I'm shocked how nice you got them and I'd like to steal your method.

WOW, I must be doing something wrong. I have tried to clean a few old DE razors, but they never look like these when I am done.

Would you mind to tell us, what kind of tools/machinery do you use for clean up/restore beside the elbow grease ? You gain impressive results. WOW !
