Early signs of corrosion?

Pulled my dovo best 5/8 full hollow out of its silicone treated sleeve and opened it up and there was a dark spot on the blade near the heel. At first I thought it was water but then I realized it was dry. Did not wipe off with a dry or a wet towel. I'm sure I dried and thenstropped the razor when I was done. I also noticed some water between the scales that I thought I wiped out before closing the razor and putting it away. I'm guessing I didn't dry it as well as I thought. I assume I need to remove this staining (and I want to even if I don't NEED to). Any tips on how best to go about it? 1000 or 2000 grit sandpaper? It does extend a few mm into the laser etching.

Its a little hard to see in the picture, I'll try to get a better one once I get home

That should clean up with some mothers or maas. Be careful, wither ones of those will remove the etching as well.

Q-Tips

Try some polish, shouldn't need any sand paper. Don't polish the etching or it will be gone.

Thanks for the input. Obviously I need to be more certain to keep the blade and scales dry. Is there any risk to the metal with leaving some of this staining behind (to avoid damaging the etching). I'm not worried about the "value" of a $90 dovo best with the most basic plastic scales they sell, I just want to make sure it keeps working and that it doesn't get any worse.

Alfredo and Rick, thank you for the excellent advice. MAAS worked perfectly and the q-ttpa were perfect. Would not have thought of that myself. I did get some of the stain overlapping the etching off without losing any of the etching, but since perfect is usually the enemy of good, I stopped while I was ahead. As you can see below, it is much improved

I doubt Maas would ever affect etching. It's usually plating people are worried about. Nice job though.. Shiny shiny now

I stand corrected. I would have thought etching be way more resistant to polishing with Maas. How abrasive is Maas technically?
