Dorco-Sad Excuse for a Blade

Dorco blades are worthless. There I said it....................

I have a bumper crop of these God-forsaken blades (bought them on a vendor description; oddly enough this vendor no longer sells Dorco "blades") which I have tried to utilize in many different applications. All have failed.

Used in an R41, the effect is similar to some forms of Middle Ages torture. Not unlike dragging an adz across your face. After one shave it is shot, unless masochism is one of your favorite past times.

Tried in a Gillette W3 Super Speed. That was like not shaving at all. Had I not known it to be impossible I would think I had more hair on my face than before I shaved with this combination.

Maybe they would work in an off-the-wall razor? Nothing more clandestine these days than the Pureman prototype; gave that a try. A tad better than the SS but not much. Still had a ton of stubble and needed to shave again after about 6 hours.

Looks like these fine Korean products will see duty as range top cleaners or something similar.

WOW these are crummy blades..............

I haven't heard too many good things about Dorco here. I have heard enough that I probably won't be thing them in the near future.

Thanks for the new expression "bumper crop." I had to look that one up!

It depends on which Dorco blade. Neither of the two I have tried will ever be mistaken for a Feather but I can get a dfs with the 300s in my R41 but the 301s are like a serated ginsu. They are on par with Derby for me and I will never touch either a 301 or a Derby again. Still use the 300s in both my 41 and Cadet OC with good results.

Dorco (ST301 and 300), for me, were the worst two blades I had ever used. I used one of each and tossed the rest of them.

I am going through my sampler pack right now and I am trying the Dorcos at the moment.
Tried the 301 first, wasn't that bad. Then the 300 and as you said, I had to shave later in the day, and my beard doesn't grow that fast!!!!

Don't think I will use them again.

Finally tried out some Dorco 300;s--I have a box of 5 of them, and of all things, I ended up with a very good shave. Used it only 2x and no complaints at all..in fact, I prefer it some others.

I can easily get DFS shaves with no irritation with Dorco 300 razor blades. I have only tried one Dorco 301 razor blade, and that was enough to realize these two blades are definitely not the same.

Cheers

It's so funny the hate for these blades. I havent used a DE in ages, but I remember liking the Dorco 301s. Oh well, guess I'm the 1%.

I have only used the Dorco 300 in a Gillette New long comb and it provided a very nice shave without irritation. It did not seem like an aggressive blade so it may not work well in milder razors.

For me, Derbies were the worst. My first razor, an EJ DE89, came with them. As a new wet shaver, I thought it was my technique that was bad. I was bummed, until I tried some different blades. When I put an Astra in the razor, the difference was like night and day.
