Domenico Caraceni "1913" Shaving Cream Ingredients

Anyone have a tub of Domenico Caraceni 1913 shaving cream?

Before I drop a chunk of change on a tub, I'd like to know what's in it - LuckyScent is the only place I've found that sells it, and they don't have the ingredients posted.

I found some reviews on other forums, but they don't list the ingredients either.
If you have the ingredients, would you mind posting them here? Or PM me if you prefer.

Thanks - sorry if the title was misleading, I can't mod it at this point.

As a preface, buy the cream. It doesn't matter what's in it. In my opinion, it's the best cream there is.

Aqua, stearic acid, aloe barbadensis, fragrance, myristic acid, potassium hydroxide, coconut acid, glycerin, triethanolamine, sodium hydroxide, phenoxyethanol, ethyl paraben, methyl paraben, butyl paraben, isobutyl paraben, propyl paraben, eugenol, geraniol, hydroxycitronellal, treemos

Have you used the fabled Charles Tyrwhitt lemon & ceder? it's my humble opinion that they're the same base... and an excellent one at that.

Thanks Oglethorpe - it's been my experience that when the ingredients are difficult to find, there are usually several that end in 'paraben' (Xpec is another one like that). Not that that's an automatic dis qualifier, but it's nice to know before spending the money.

As for the CT - they seem to only sell clothing now. Nice clothing, but no shaving cream.

I've not tried Xpec, but I also hear amazing things about that. So.. maybe there's actually something to those parabens.

Is the DC similar to Acca Kappa? What can you guys compare it to?

DC and Acca Kappa are pretty different. I would describe Acca Kappa in it's "unlathered" state as cakey, for lack of a better word. It's airy and dense. You can jab your brush into it, and get a little bit on there, but I find it a little bit easier to pinch the tips of the brush and "scoop" some out.

DC is more gelatinous... it has a glossy appearance in the tub, and a fairly shaken out brush will allow you to swirl lightly and load just enough to give you a 3 pass shave.

In terms of lather, the DC is more cushiony and light and the AK is very dense and thick.

But it's really hard for me to form an opinion while disregarding the scent of each. DC is easily the best smelling cream I've ever used, and I've just about used them all. It's such a luxurious shave. I'm not saying AK isn't luxurious, it's just that the scent leaves a lot to be desired.

DC 1913 is the best shaving cream I have tried. Thick, dense, wonderfully smelling lather that is better than CF which is excellent as well.

I have tried many shaving creams and it does not get any better than DC 1913.
My good friend, Sir Whiskers, who is extremely picky and tried many creams as well, thinks DC 1913 is the best as well.

Xpec is the same base, as far as i can tell, as the C.T & D.C.

It appears to have similar ingredients to Castle Forbes. Perhaps it is made by the same manufacturer.

Castle Forbes is pretty different than the base of the above mentioned creams.

lI will have to pull out my sample of DC and give it a try. Just by looks it does resemble the CT lemon and cedar cream.

Thanks for the through comparison Oglethorpe.

Josh, do you have the Xpec stuff? let do a sample swap if you do!!

Actually they have very similar ingredients including the base. The only difference I can tell is the order of fragrances. The Castle Forbes uses EO as #8 and Domincio Caraceni uses fragrance as #4. Everything else is the same except for order of parabens.

Castle Forbes:
water, stearic acid, aloe vera, myristic acid, potassium hydroxide, coconut acid, glycerin, EO, triethanolamine, sodium hydroxide, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, butylparaben, ethylparaben, isobutylparaben, propylparaben

Domincio Caraceni:
Aqua, stearic acid, aloe barbadensis, fragrance, myristic acid, potassium hydroxide, coconut acid, glycerin, triethanolamine, sodium hydroxide, phenoxyethanol, ethyl paraben, methyl paraben, butyl paraben, isobutyl paraben, propyl paraben, eugenol, geraniol, hydroxycitronellal, treemos

Sorry, i should have clarified, i didn't mean the ingrediant list was different, i meant that the cream consistancy and lather were very different.

I have not found a better cream than DC, it simply is amazing in terms of performance though I can't say I'm equally excited about the scent, or the price for that matter. It looks like it's $60 at LuckyScent now, a few years back there were reports saying it was "only" $50 - I guess the dollar is a lot weaker these days. $68 shipped is a bit much, granted the jar is big at 250ml. It's one of those things I'll ask for as a birthday gift :w00t:
