Does your razor need a rest sometimes?

I usually use a Gillette Slim Adjustable, and get great results. Sometimes, however, it just won't shave well for me. When that happens, I switch to a Tech for a shave or two. Then, when I switch back to the Slim it will shave perfect again!

I guess the Slim just needs to rest once in a while.

Anybody else have the same experience?

Yep.

I guess it has to do with angle.
Any time you pick up a new razor from the rotation it might be that you are just a bit more alert and pay a little extra attention to detail.

I'm starting to find that shaving with a DE is best straight out of the shower, as it goes through the hair best at this time. If I neglect my prep I find that the razor skips and drags accordingly. I used to blame the razor or blade for these strange fluctuations in quality, and would switch to a cartridge to finish the job. Prep is so important for DE's because sometimes the weight alone is not enough to cut through dense hair smoothly. There is also the careful angle to consider. A cartridge can do this easily because it has multiple blades + pressure on its side, so prep is less mandatory, but still important.

I do the same thing, but probably more for the fact that it keeps the shaving routine interesting more than anything else.

Concur. Familiarity Breeds Complacency. It is your technique that needs refreshing. Switching razors does that. Happens to me all the time. Maybe that's why I can't settle on one daily razor?

After a week with a razor I find myself getting lazy and rushing things, causing some pain and irritation. Switching up razors always cures the problem..... until next week!

That sometimes happens to me also. Thank God for a trusty rotation

For me, these. When I switch from a closed comb to an open comb, the first day back is a little iffy, but not bad. The next few days it is spot on. Then the 4'th or 5'th day, blood in the water. Not taking my time, not focusing on shaving, not present. It's the switch that really helps me focus.
