does proraso (red) soap have a cooling effect?

Morning,
Has anyone used the tub of proraso red or even the cream version? I have used prorasso green but I do not like the cooling effect it gives my face. I am guessing its the menthol or eucalyptis.. I am just looking for something by prorasso that will not tingle or cool down my face.

Maybe better if others chime in too. I only tried the cream and I did not feel any cooling effect at all. Strong smell of Sandalwood though.

No. The cream in a tube does not contain any menthol to my knowledge. I love the stuff and use it in my regular rotation. No cooling effect for me.

I believe only the green will have that cooling effect.

i have the cream and prefer the italian creams over the traditional tub soaps. just my preference.
it's actually a really nice cream, (and I'm not crazy about creams) nice sandalwood scent, not too perfumy- or chemically, I use it on those great fall and winter days. It's my favorite cream next to TOBS. I'm mainly a soap man.
Lather has density and slickness , feels slick when I rub that first lather on my face with my hands. (this I find is a good technique for new soaps/creams to test slickness on your personal face and use as a gauge for other products). Bowl lather at least the first time and apply to face with hands. you'll note the difference in products over time.

You're feeling the cooling effect of sandalwood oil, which has been used in India as a cooling skin preparation for thousands of years. No worries, because I feel it too. No idea why these other guys aren't noticing it. It's subtle, but it's there.

OP felt the cooling sensation of Proraso Green, which we agree is not subtle at all. I'll have to retry my Red, did really not notice it and did not know about cooling effect of Sandalwood.

I have a tub of Red Sandalwood and a tub of the White Oatmeal, Red has edged out White, great winter shave, great faint sandalwood scent post shave. I'm getting really really good shaves out of it with bowl lathering and a Simpson Best Berkeley. I have face lathered it with my Mighty Midget as well and Love it too!

It's most noticeable when you rinse between passes.

Direct application of sandalwood oil to the skin creates a soothing cooling sensation, making it especially effective for treating conditions like acne, sunburns, rashes and eczema, all of which can be made worse due to touching and scratching caused by painful, itchy skin."

It cools a really, really, small amount but it doesn't feel mentholated by a long shot. You can' go wrong with the stuff, it makes an amazing lather and smells even better! Get yourself some!

Not sure if the cooling effect some say they have is from the Sandalwood either it's the last ingredient listed. It's fantastic cream, with a very original take on sandalwood.

I just got my tub of the red soap and I'll be using it for my next shave, and I'll be happy to tell you what I think - but without menthol, I really don't expect any significant cooling effect.
