do you go for a bbs shave every day?

i was wondering if many people go for a bbs shave every day. i have to work on my technique still, but i am getting more comfy shaves. yet if i go for a bbs shave 2 days in a row, my face starts feeling a bit raw.

hi
no matter how close a shave i get two hours later ,they are coming out again:frown:.so most of the time just do a quick shave:smile: , and if i am going out for the night ,i just do a gentle one . over the years i have given myself some horror story looks going for the ultimate shave ,been late going anywhere because of the blood flow:mad: ,white shirts are a no no .

I almost never go for the BBS.

I can get it pretty much anytime that I want, but then spend the next two days suffering for my trouble... no matter how careful I am, it tears up my skin something fierce and I end up with ingrowns all over my neck as the hair grows back.

No thanks! A two pass shave is still 100X better than anything I used to get!

With practice, a two pass DFS can be remarkably close to a BBS, with no irritation at all ... ever.
I still take 30 - 40 minutes even for just two passes and touch-ups. Do a good prep as always, build a great lather as always and pay special attention to your angles. Trust a sharp blade to be able to slice the hair very close to your skin without scraping your face.
What works for me is a first pass WTG, second pass XTG and just taking my time.

I do try every day. If, after touch up pass after pass 3 I'm still finding problems, I'll do what I can, then call it off. There are clearly diminishing returns with the later passes.

I rarely bother unles it's a special occassion, although I only call it BBS if there's absolutely no stubble no matter how hard I rub. Usually, I aim for a fast 2-3 pass DFS and miss by a little, and spend less than 8 minutes at it, at least with a DE. Been learning to use a straight, which takes me more like 20 minutes for a barely passable SAS.

You can definitely get there if you care. Just keep working on getting a lighter touch, and finding the right combinations of techniques.

Hmm. I can achieve BBS although I hardly do it. DFS works fine for me. It's not worth possible irritation. My neck hair grows in all directions literally and skin is sensitive. One wrong move can be fatal.

I go for it every time I shave. My face has been good about handling the shaves. I started out shaving 4 times a day so I could condition my face. I hadn't shaved in over 3 years so I knew my face needed extra shaves daily.

I only get razor burns from not changing the blades after 2 shaving sessions. I'm only doing 1 shave a day now and sometimes a little touch up later in the day.

I used to but I found that I do get irritation. I do a twice-over 7days/week. I used to take sat or sunday off but I realize I get too much stubble.

I agree that with proper lather and paying attention that a 2-pass shave is more than sufficient. Not sense in trying to irritate your skin more.

However I do find that it doesn't matter how many times you shave your face. There is always a critical moment where you must ask yourself.... do I really need to stick this blade to my face again? When I find myself asking that (especially after a couple passes) I know it's time to stop.

I usually shave right when I get home from work so I have more time to get that BBS. I always do 2 WTG and 1 ATG and depending how I do an XTG.

I've been shaving with a straight for 29 years and I go for a perfect BBS (no stubble for at least 12 hours) every day. If stubble emerges sooner, there's something wrong with the razor and I will hone it and shave again (I'm that obsessive). It helps that I work at home.

I go for the best shave I can get in the fewest possible strokes. I don't rate it with codes.

If I used too many strokes to get rid of the beard, or if I'm sitting at work in the morning feeling some leftover stubble, I probably will look at the shave routine for that morning (prep, lather, etc) and make adjustments next time.
Or maybe I realize I used the blade one more time than I should have.

If for some reason I didn't get my normal quality shave, then I can usually figure out what the problem was.
