disinfecting a brush

Is there a need to disinfect your own brush?

If so, my wife is a dentist and so I have access to an autoclave, does anyone know how a brush would react to being autoclaved?

Now that I am thinking of it - has anyone used an autoclave for a "pre owned" razor?

no, though they do like a cleaning once or twice a year, just to get out any soap skum thats lurking at the base of the knot.

I think you would kill a brush in the autoclave, those things get HOT, and it would probably ruin the hairs.

I haven't disinfected my shaving brushes, but I did use a high-quality shampoo to clean them when I first purchased them. There is some brush cleaning information here http://www.shaveinfo.com/videos/brush_cleaning.htm

Have never used an autoclave on my razors. After purchase, I use Barbacide according to the directions.
