Different "gaps" on each side of razor head?

Hi all -

I'm fairly new to wet shaving still (so apologies in advance for butchering the terminology), although I do manage to get REALLY good and comfortable shaves. But I'm curious about something... my razor has different sized 'gaps'. Like, if you look at the shaving head from the side, the left and right sides will have noticeably different 'gaps' between the razor head and the blade. Almost like one side of the blade is higher than the other. I have to take care to notice which side I'm using to shave with; it's definitely a noticeable difference.

Is that normal? This is my first DE razor, so I'm not sure if maybe one side is supposed to be 'milder' in angle, while the other is more 'aggressive'? Or do I just have a cheap/crappy razor?

PS - it was pretty cheap LOL

The safety bars could be bent, but sometimes that is fixable. Can you post a clear picture of the problem?

Hopefully, this photo is good enough to show what I'm talking about.. hard to hold everything still and focus the phone LOL.

In this view, it's pretty clear that the left side has a larger gap between the blade edge and the baseplate of the razor than the right side does.

It's been like that since I got it, but the more I've read up and looked at other's razors, I am thinking that's not normal...

That does happen and i would say it is more common than most believe, but it should not be as prominent as your razor. What kind of razor is it?

That is definitely a substantial difference.....Hard to fix that on a 3 piece razor...I'd punt and buy me something new.

That's not right. The gap should be even on both sides. You should contact the vendor and see if the razor could be replaced. Email them the photo you've posted so they can see the problem themselves.

Are you sure that's assembled and tightened properly? That doesn't look right at all. It's scary.

Is it a 3-piece? Could the middle part be upside down? nvm, I see it's right way up.

Yes, 3-piece. Definitely assembled and tightened correctly. The more 'shallow' side is actually quite comfortable, but yeah, the other side feels brutal.

Well, the vendor's support response was quick and positive. Everything is going to work out fine... now just have to decide what to do razor-wise :)
