Diamond paste question

Hey guy's, a quick question about 3.0 diamond paste. I got a torrey straight coming my way this week and will be ordering a hanging strop and a 4 sided paddle strop from TM, as a noob to honing I'll be letting the professional's do that for me for awhile, but would like keep a good edge on my str8 as long as I can, barring any major accidents, can I get by with just a 1.0, .5, .25 sided paddle strop or do you guy's use 3.0 micron quite a bit to keep your edge sharp. Thanks in advance for yall's input.

Re: Tony has 2 types of 4 sided strops, one with 4 sides of horse hide for pasting on all 4 sides, and the other one has 3 sides with horse hide and 1 with leather for just regular stropping.

I will be very interested in the other responses to this inquiry, but I would think you could easily get by with just the .25. Maybe get some Chrome Oxide powder and/or liquid, too. The chrome seems to put a little smoother edge on to me. One of those $4 samples of the CrO powder if the guy is still doing them on Straight Razor Place or wherever he is is plenty. Diamond pastes even in the finest "grain" "cut" steel amazingly quickly.

This regimen should you going for a long time without the 3.0. Once you get to the point of needing the 3.0 it is time to go to the stones anyway. Just my humble opinion.

Yep. 3 micron is roughly 8K grit.
