Decants came in

I did a run of Archerfire and picked up some decants which just came in yesterday: Knize Ten, Green Irish Tweed, Blenheim Bouquet, Burberry London, Encre Noir, Grey Flannel and Tabac.

I immediately sprayed GIT on one wrist, Grey Flannel on the other. I've got to say, GIT didn't just disappoint, I'd say it represents what I hate about colognes I've smelled in the past, a great big blast of... reminds me of bugspray. I still hope to have an epiphany about it, I'll give it a full wear soon. The Grey Flannel confused me, reminded me a bit of rice for some reason, drydown was pleasant though. All the others got tested on paper, Knize Ten and Encre Noir are nice, Blenheim was intriguing, though there was a note I couldn't place that I'll have to look up.

The unexpected favorite was Burberry London, which smells great. I passed the scents by the girl I've been seeing, and the ones which she liked were Knize, GIT (because it smells more like a regular (read, mainstream) cologne), and Burberry London. So, while I have some more fragrances on the way, and I do mean to give each a full wearing, it looks like London will be getting my love for a while!

+1 to Burberry London, a favorite of both mine and the missus. Give Grey Flannel a good shot, but if you don't like flowery or powder notes, you may not ever like it. If you by chance hate Cool Water, then that will explain your GIT reaction. Cool Water is pretty much a knock off of GIT.

I've never tried Cool Water, though in anticipation of liking GIT, I ordered both that and Aspen. Oops, not too expensive though, I'll live.

I love both Cool Water, and Aspen, and have both in my arsenal. I am anxious to try GIT. Both Cool Water, and Aspen are said to be GIT knock offs.

I also really like Burberry London - I lucked into a very low-priced bottle at a discount department store yesterday, and tried it for the first time.

Interesting, I was expecting some surprise at my dislike of GIT, but instead I'm hearing a lot of London love, I like it!

GIT smells like a REALLY high end CW/Aspen. It makes it hard to go back to CW/Aspen because you REALLY notice the synthetics after smelling GIT

Hmm, I'm willing to admit that GIT is smelling better on full application. I'm picking up a lot more of the subtlety I was looking forward to when first trying it. Interesting, I'm glad I retried it.

+1 I can pick out every single note in GIT and it all works wonderfully together. The sandalwood in the base is just icing on the cake to my nose.

I prefer Aspen to Cool Water overall especially for the opening notes. Aspen goes on a lot smoother than Cool Water but it really disappears on my skin in just a few hours and I really miss the sandalwood and violet when wearing Aspen. Cool Water comes on very harsh to me and kind of chaotic. All the notes kind of hit me at once and it's hard to wrap your nose around it. I smell the similarity to GIT but the overall Cool Water experience is a slap in the face compared to the pleasant and comfortable experience I have wearing GIT.

The note you're missing is probably PEPPER. I smelled like I worked a double shift at Subway when i tried Blenheim Bouquet. A SA at Saks once explained Blenheim as coming from an era when people didn't bathe regularly so there was a smell needed that wouls mask the odor and pepper was popular for that.

GIT is the only CREED that smells like a chemical factory on me.
it smells very synthetic and odd to me.
I reach for Cool Water instead

Thank you! I was too embarrassed to say it in my other thread but I'm finding both Aspen and Cool Water more pleasant than GIT

I get the GIT-chemical factory thing. I like it, but it is near the middle-bottom of my list of beloved Creeds. However, I do not reach for Cool Water instead of, or in addition to, Green Irish Tweed. I find Cool Water significantly more synthetic than GIT.
