To all of you who've acquired lots of little (or not so little) decants, how do you go about storing and organizing them? I just have a small toolbox I leave them standing up in, but as it gets more and more full, it gets harder to find the ones I'm looking for so I was wondering if anyone had a more elegant solution to the situation.

Hmm, a test tube rack could be nice for that, it would at least solve any problem with the decants falling over
Someone suggested ammo boxes and I find these work fairly well.
1ml - 1-1/2ml narrow vials & atomizers: .222 Mag Ammo Box
2ml - 6ml atomizers: Shotshell Box w/ cover
8ml - 10ml atomizers: Shotshell Box w/o cover

Maybe if I could find another source that could work, amazon doesn't get along with Canada very well
This is a good question. I currently keep them in a plastic tub, and dig around until I find what I'm looking for. Perhaps I should find a better way!
I bought several acrylic makeup organizers at Target. Inexpensive, transparent and lots of small compartments for organization. My decants sit upright in a closed armoire
I was thinking of getting some of these since each slot is numbered I could number my decant spreadsheet and then when i want to find a specific decant I could look it up in the sheet and say oh that's number 47 and go right to it in the box...but that sounds like a lot of work and the boxes are like $8 and come in packs of 10

I took an unused scrap of 2x2 and another of 2x4 and my largest drill bit and drilled one inch holes in a line and put the decants in there. One of the wood pieces is expressly for Oud and I drilled those holes at about a 45 degree angle so the oud would settle at the bottom in such a way that the applicator could reach it. Total cost? Nothing. That's because if you buy oud there's nothing left in your wallet.
I use an acrylic makeup organizer too, but no matter what you do, unless you go wayyyyy anal and create an elaborate labeling system on the actual container, you're still going to be picking up and scrutizining the little vials with tiny type labels on them.

Not necessarily. The small vials are the easiest for me to organize using ammo boxes: see pics below. Just be sure to alphabetize. Small vials fit perfectly in 5.7x28 boxes and they snap closed to boot! The medium sized decants usually go in .50 cal tray (bottom left) and the larger ones get stored in a shaving brush box (upper right).

I bought them on ebay. They are MTM cases size p-100-38 and they barely click closed. I would also check out the P-100-44- if you want the case to be a bit larger.
