DE Convert w/Cartridge Shaving Questions

I can still get the Personna twin carts at my Wal-Mart. I recently started DE shaving and switched from an M3. I can see having a cart razor would still be good to have on hand for travel or just when I'm on a fast track.

What makes the twins better than the 3+ blade cartridges? Why do people like the non pivot better than the pivot heads?

I believe the idea is to stay as close as possible to the DE. If you go back to the M3 for a week or so, you may revert to poor habits again: pressure and blade angle.

I'd prefer a non-pivot cart because it would let me set the correct angle for my shave. Pivoting heads never get that close on me.

My local Walgreens is carrying the "Bic Metal" razors again. These are probably the best disposable razor as far as being closest to a DE. It has a single blade with a metal blade guard.

One fewer blade. :w00t::lol:

In all seriousness, most of us have found that a single blade is more than adequate. We therefore don't buy into the idea that "more blades equals a better shave". For the most part, they don't make a single bladed cart (there's the BumpFighter, but you won't get a close shave with it, due to it's design).

So if there are no single bladed carts, then a two bladed cart is the lesser of the evils. However, the two bladed carts (Trac II, Atra, Sensor) are all really awesome products.

Most of us feel that 3 blades, and up is just needless, and does nothing but cause more irritation.

In general, two bladed carts are also the cheapest, with the Dollar General carts that fit both the Atra, and Trac II being available at $1.25 for a six pack.

Hmmmm....I may pick up a bump fighter handle off the personna website and get some twin blade carts for travel, quick shave, or whatever. I'm still working on my DE technique and loving the experience.
