Date code on a Bostonian/New Standard?

On the underside of the head of mine is an elongated D with a G inside, just above 'Made in USA'...any ideas what this refers to? I thought this model only had a number on the 'blade plate' (sorry if terminology is wrong!) which mine does: 443359B. Must look it up, I know!

Thanks for any insights :)

No one is really sure about the D-G mark, but it seems to appear on razors that were made for sale in Europe. The best theory is that it is something like a hallmark, but for silver plate. Possibly this was required by French law at the time. The same mark also appeared on gold plated razors, which may or may not have silver beneath the gold.

Thanks mblakele :)
Mine is a gold model. Bought it from France so what you say makes consummate sense...

We all came to a consensus that its a mark for the European an France market but i little bit more than just for silver plate.......http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showth...th-the-quot-G-in-D-quot?p=4549542#post4549542

I would still go with this being a mark indicating that the razor was made for the continental European market -- quite possibly France specifically -- but perhaps it was broader than just silverplate.
