I recently received 5 pounds of locally grown dark air cured tobacco. (KT D17). Posting a few experiments, if anyone is interested.
Dark air cured is primarily used for chew and dip, but you occasionally find it in pipe tobacco. I’m not smart enough to know any better, so I tried several different experiments.

On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, with 5 being great...
The Cigar was better than expected. 3 stars
The Twist Chew was good, but could be sweeter. Or maybe add a dark fire cured wrapper. 3 stars
The Nasal snuff was better when I did not use any water, so I give it 4 stars without added water. Following the directions 3 stars.
The snus is still fermenting, and the ammonia smell too strong. It needs a few more days, but I have high hopes for it.
The Dip turned out pretty good, but I added vegetable shortening instead of glycerin. 4 stars.
The Pipe tobacco was just ok, 2 stars. I hope it improves with time.
