Custom TTO handle

I've seen tons of custom handles for 3 piece razors, but does anyone, or has anyone ever had a custom TTO handle? I have a lady gillette that I would like to make a custom handle for. My idea is to make it an "extra heavy red tip"

I figure that if I used the knob and upper ?neck? From a red tip I could have a barrel tube knurled like the red tip, but longer like the gillette lady.

Anyone who thinks they could do this or know anyone who can, please let me know.

Once upon a time there were some nice custom TTOs by Bob Smith of BRW. Bob is no longer around - and sadly missed. But another good pair of hands might be able to do something similar.

Bob would start with the TTO head from a Slim Twist or Knack, because those Gillette models had the TTO on the collar rather than the knob. So he would cut off the old handle below the collar, and graft the head onto one of his own handles. You can see that in this example:

I bet I have the know how to do that.. Gonna buy a slim twist and figure it out... Will report back later

I've thought about using a slim/twist but my goal is to make a long handled "Red Tip" using the butterfly assembly rod from a Gillette Lady and the TTO knob and other parts from a regular red tip.

Kind of like this: $RedTipproject.jpg

Complete noob thought this. But would it be possible to Frakenrazor a TTO handle off another razor. Say buy a Cadet TTO for $15 bucks, remove the handle and adapt it to the Lady Gillette. Now obviously I'm just making this up because I have no idea of the threads, mechanics and tolerances of these razors. Though surely someone must have done something like this before......

So after pulling several razors apart, I noticed that the Lady Gillette uses what I was told is a double lead reverse thread on the assembly rod and matching thread on the TTO know.

The Red Tip uses a standard thread on the rod and knob. So this great idea of mine is back on the drawing board.

Try cutting both rods in half and use a die on both ends, and couple them both with a tube tapped on both sides or even easier find a reverse threaded corresponding die

I love the ingenuity some of you posses, but the statement above might as well have been written in Chinese as far as my comprehension is concerned. I could never figure something like that out. I can do a lot of things, but not when it comes to stuff like this. I sure am glad we have you engineer types, because otherwise we'd all still be shaving with either straight razors or 3 piece razors.

More likely clamshell tweezers. It takes a fair bit of technical know-how to make a straight or a three-piece.

So I said I'd have the know how to do that so I put my money where my mouth is... Now I had an unused sabi t1 brass handle and a knack chrome head... Took me about 30 minutes..

I made these pictures black and white to give you a good idea of a long handle custom TTO without the color distraction... Works well!

Can you share the specifics? What size drill did you use? Did you use a drill press or a hand drill? I have a Slim Twist with a broken handle but the head is in great shape. I would like to do that to mine.
