Cruddy Aristocrat?

The culmination of my recent buying frenzy was a British Aristocrat (it was described as a '1950s gillette safety razor pat number N0430030', however,I think its an Aristocrat #21(which would make it Rhodium plated))
$Aristocrat.jpg

The description stated cosmetic wear, however on closer inspection of the low res poorly lit photo I notice discolouration around the handle neck, I know the smart play is wait for it to arrive and see what it is but I'm like a cat on hot bricks, so;

Can anyone with more experience speculate on the discolouration (stupid question I know:001_smile)

I'll post better Pictures when it arrives (hopefully soon)

Of course, happy to speculate. My speculation is that you're looking at bad photography. One thing is certain, the colour is wrong. The picture was taken under tungsten light (about 2,500K or say 3,000K which is degrees Kelvin) and the white balance was daylight, about 5,500K or 6,000K.

It would be sort of odd to see brassing in that area on the neck but not elsewhere in more common wear spots, although if it's damage then anything's possible. It is, however, a very common location for soap scum to accumulate, so you could be lucky there. It could also just be a funky reflection (although it looks less like that to me if I'm guessing).

"Bad photography" thats quite an understatement (your not British are you?). The question is why?

Intentionally poor to mask condition or plain old incompetence?

He could have been using it to stir his Tea, tannin stains can be a bugger
