Cremo Cream

this is my travel cream. dont need a brush, but i get the same results.
smell is not my favorite; but when i'm miles away from my avacado, i could
really care less. i also use this when i only have enough time for one pass with
my slant bar. highly used. keep it in the cabinet.

I disagree with the other posts. I found the cream to be messy and the scent bad. I feel Kiehls is a better cream and will stick with it. I also gave it to my roommate to try and he had the same reaction.

It can be lathered up with a brush and a bowl. But like previous posters said, it requires a bit of water. It is indeed runny, and you will make a mess. But it is slick, which is the only thing that matters to me anyway.

The scent is very coconut, something I like, though I detect a tad bit of medicinal product somewhere tucked away.

Not a bad cream to use in the everyday rotation.

Let me say that this is f-ing good stuff.

Price: A tube of this cream goes for around $14 which is not bad at all compared to the english creams and others which go for double that easily.

Quality: This is without any doubt, the most thick, dense cream I have come across. When spreading over the face, it just has a nice, substantial feeling to it which IMO is a good indication of quality.

Scent: Many people do not like the coconut scent of this cream. I happen to love coconut so this is not a problem. I will say that it does have a bit of an odd "after" scent to it which another member described as blue cheese. This sounds very negative but do not be turned off by this. This scent goes away and fades into nice coconut when it is spread on the face.

Latherability: I gave this a 5 since I have not tried to make lather with this. It is designed as a brushless cream and I find that it works superbly as a brushless cream. The only issue I have with this is that I waste more cream than if I was to just use a brush and make traditional lather.

Efficacy: This is why you need to buy this cream. It simply works better than everything else I have used. I am sold on the brushless idea as it really makes for an amazingly slick surface, FAR better than any soap or cream i have used. Because of the thickness of this cream, it provides a good cushion as well. What I really like about this product is that it is so responsive to water in the sense that you apply a little amount and as it dries after time, a little splash of water turns your face into an oil slick.

Moisturizing: This is another aspect of the cream which makes it a "must have"...I don't think I need to explain what moisturizing means...this cream does it perfectly.

Packaging: Comes in a cardboard box and the cream is in a large tube...nothing special but really nothing more is needed.

I will say I really like the idea of a brushless cream and I find the slickness to blow away traditional lather. I have musgo real which is brushless as well, but I have yet to use it without a brush. I think that other than the scent which might be a deal breaker for some, this is one of the best, if not tied for the best among a few others for the best cream available.

I have to admit I am new to this forum and since I have started str8 shaves I have purchased a few products. Proraso, Musgo,AOS,SCS... you get the pic.
WOW!! this product is AMAZING. If you are new or an old hand this is THE product to add to the choice of weapons. SLICK as glass shave using the DOVO Spec. Scent could be the only weakness, a tad soapy. If you are looking for an A+ shave, a quicky or a traveling cream this would be my choice.

hand applied a sample, whilst waiting delivery on my first brush. 1st shave was with J.M Fraser also hand applied. Method: hot shower wash\rinse face. 2. Hand massage in cream, 3. Rinse. 4. re-apply hand massage in cream and work up. 4 Merkur 38c + Derby Extra (sample). Result: Fraser good lather, easy shave. Cremo: near-zero lather (mind you it was hand applied\massaged while waiting on brush). Magic! Cremo was so almost invisible bur smoooooooth. I skated around my face with DE like a champ. And I'm totaly newb. The Cremo let me go nuts. Why? Bourbon+beer. Maybe. No cuts\blood with Fraser. 3 blood drops with Cremo. New blade Fraser. 2nd shave blade with Cremo. I def like both, more testing.....brush arrives tomorrow. (from a samplee, so poll refects unknown price\packaging)

I haven't used this enough to give it a proper review, but from what I've seen so far I like it and can't find anything wrong with it. It would be nice to have a choice of scents though. If it came in Sandalwood it would without a doubt be my main go to shaving cream.

My local Wegmans just got this stuff in stock for 6.49 a tube.

Pros-Slick!, Provides a great shave, Cheap

Cons-Scent, Latherablility

Just like Tabac I can forgive the scent issues based on performance. Excellent stuff for travel!

As for the scent, you guys who only smell coconut or who think that's the predominant aroma -- get a new nose! It's mainly orange/tangerine, some other citrus, and the coconut is there but not the primary scent.

If I recall correctly, the Scent was reformulated. It sounds like you have the new scent, while the other guys are referring to the old scent.

Could be; I purchased mine recently.

One more observation: Today I used a brush on my face to see how it would lather up with that method rather than just hand lathering. There was more lather, though my brush was a bit wet so the Cremo was a bit thinner than usual. But the results were good enough that I'll keep trying this method, even though using a brush is not what most people do with Cremo.

Really nice and effective cream; very light, non-lingering scent which opens up the whole universe of A/S.

Getting the water/cream ratio right is key: only a few drops of water added to an almond-sized piece of cream will do. Add too much water and your face lather will not last more than 20s.

I didn't find this particularly slick. The citrus odor, which lasts about a minute, is bearable, but the chemical undertone that follows is really horrendous. I stuck this in a drawer and will use this only if I run out of decent stuff.

Great price and an amazingly smooth shave. I like the old-school style packaging. It lathers fine if you make sure to add the right amount of water to it, because it needs more than most other creams. For those wondering about the scent, check out their website and they'll tell you that the fragrance is pretty much bergamot oil (a perfectly natural product obtained from bitter orange peels).

Cremo is one of my favourites. Like others, if you want to lather it in a bowl, you have to get the water content right... but that takes only a little practice. I've taken it travelling several times now and have been very happy with it: I even used it as a shampoo for a couple of nights when I was holed up in a cheap motel, and it did the job with no problem and then helped me to have a servicable shave!

I've been looking for an American made product to replace Proraso, which I have been using for years. I've tried a few and I can honestly say the quest is over, Proraso wins. Nothing I've tried has come close to Proraso in terms of quality and performance.

Don't get me wrong, Cremo is good, but I wouldn't buy it exclusively. The price is right and the quality is good. Even though it is meant as a brushless/latherless cream I got a decent and very slick lather in a bowl. Also, it moisturized my face like no other.

I did not like it brushless, in fact I think it performed way better when I formed the lather in a bowl.

I had absolutely no issues with Cremo, Although it won't replace my Proraso I wouldn't mind having this stuff around for a change of pace.

And I don't care what they say, I love the scent.

Why the hell would you try to lather this stuff anyway. Not its intended use, and brilliant for what it is - a quick, forgiving brushless cream when you need fast results.
