Creed samplers

any of you guys know where I can get a good selection of Creed samples? They have a pretty big line up of fragrances, and I haven't even smelled any of them.

Neiman Marcus carries a large selection of Creed and they often will give you samples to take home for free. Creed Botique used to sell sample packs online, but it appears they no longer offer them.

B&B distributor Archerfire carries half dozen Creed samples:

Otherwise there is always the sample shops, but they can be a bit pricey...

Surrender to Chance:

Perfumed Court:

You can buy sample packs from the CREED website, and then when you place your first order for a bottle, they credit you the entire amount you spent on samples which makes them free. Something to think about if you think you will end up with a bottle.

Why do you think the perfumedcourt only has 3 CREED fragrances. They have tons....

oh, and do you have any Creed fragrances you'd recommend?

That's a tricky one. I'm one who says that when CREED is on it's game then they are awesome.
The rest are just OK and your money is better spent elsewhere.

I would recommend these if you are sampling:
Original Vetiver
Bois du Portugal
Royal Oud
Original Santal
Aventus
Green Irish Tweed

Now I'm only suggesting those because they are not too far off the beaten path and I think they are some of the better ones.

Of course, it's all so subjective. It's one of those "if you ask 100 people you'll get 100 different answers" kind of thing.

oh yea, I understand there's never going to be a definite "best."

I'm starting to lean towards Aventus, as I do more research.

Creed makes some top quality juice no doubt, but not everything they make is great or even tolerable. What type of scent are you looking for or what other scents do you typically like? Do you like clean scents or more robust, rich? Modern or classic? Woody? Spicy? Do you want something formal, casual, for a date? It's tough to make recommendations blindly because our personal favorites might not at all be what you are looking for.

I happen to really like Aventus, but it's a strange fragrance in some ways. There is a certain period somewhere in the middle where I just can't stand it. For me it starts out nice, then does a dive bomb, then I can't smell it for a while, then the dry down is superb.

I do get lots of compliments on it though. It's a strange one.

I can't seem to commit to any of the Creed fragrances enough to buy. I enjoy the samples I received from Neiman Marcus, but I'll probably have to buy a bottle or two eventually. The issue I have with Creed is that unless you buy the 17oz flacon (or 8.4 oz if 17oz isn't available in a particular scent), the price per ounce is outrageous, but I would never use a 17 oz flacon before switching scents. I'm considering some splitting, but I would want to own the original flacon myself instead of participating in someone else's split.

Also, if you find a store that is generous with samples, let me know! If I end up purchasing, I want to do it from a store that will keep giving me samples because I like more of them than I can buy at one time.

Creed's that I can't live without:
Bois du Portugal
Aventus
Green Irish Tweed

Creed's that I don't think are worth the $$$:
Original Santal - pretty generic (though nice) imo
Original Vetiver - better vetivers for less $$$ out there
Royal Oud - again, better options
Millesime Imperial - great scent, but longevity is SO bad on my skin

those are all the Creed's I've tried.

If you're leaning towards Aventus, my assumption is you are on the younger side. Aventus has a rep as a lady killer because a lot of women will notice and comment on the scent. That can always sound like bunk, but both Tehtimmeh and myself have experienced it. I strongly advocate sampling first though.

Some of us who have worn it experience an inability to smell it which either means it's very prone to olfactory fatigue or contains an aroma chemical that some people are anosmic to. It is tricky to wear as a result. I could not smell it, and people were commenting left and right. If you can't smell it 30 minutes after you apply, don't be shocked. It is still there and pounding away to people who CAN smell it.

Also not sure of your intended use; work, play, both? If for work, be very carful with application, it's known to much stronger than it seems to the wearer ; have read many comments in that regard, and experienced it first hand when I wore to work.

If the appeal is the "chicks dig it" factor, it is good for that but it won't turn you into a sex machine. But this scent is very clever, and shows me that Creed kinda does know what they are doing.

All I can say is yep. Compliments from ladies coming out of the woodwork on this one. I can't smell it 30 minutes after I put it on, but a compliment 6 hours later tells me it's still there!

+1 on the Aventus trickery. I CAN smell it, and it is wonderful. But, I have gotten comments to suggest that it's overdoing it from people around me (and I'm a pretty conservative sprayer)....beware!

If you only want to test a couple I have had good luck talking to the sales folks at Neiman's. they work off of commission so make sure you ask for their business card in the event you decide to buy one of them.

If you decide you want a bigger amount of a Creed fragrance but don't want a full bottle checkout bassnotes.com forum and the splits section. I got a 50ml portion of GIT for $65 from Heperd. Very impressed. Now waiting for Aventus from same guy. I' m hooked on splits.

There are many other Creed frags that I enjoy far more than Aventus, BUT...the wife and seemingly everyone else I encounter, like's Aventus more ;-)
