Fragrance Graveyard Thread

Even harder to kill than soaps, it is time for a fragrance thread. Even small samples are allowed here. That's smarter, anyway.

I'll kick it of. I often spray this on between awakening and my morning shower.

I have some more citrus cheapies to get through first, but I will eventually replace this with some real ADP, now that I know more about this stuff.

I'm not able to stick with one fragrance through its completion. That's what I think 3017 is all about.
Can you do that?

I don't stick with one, but I focus on one fresh fragrance. It stays on top of the dresser as an easy grab until it is gone. Other fragrances come from the drawer and get used in more of a rotation. Normally, I spray the fresh one when I get up, then after a shower I may go for that one again, or I may grab something else. I usually go for something else.

I bet this is my second in the last ten years. It was definitely intentional. I think I can make it a regular thing now that I am wearing something virtually every day.

Tabac 300mL. Thats huge.

I have a few 150mL bottles of favorites, but the idea is that they will last forever.

My wife has no trouble with it. I usually get her a 150mL bottle and when it is low, I get her another on the next special occasion. Typically they last her a year or so. She emptied 2 150mL bottles of No. 5 and is nearly through 150mL of Coco Chanel. I am thinking I will get her several 100mL bottles of different things for our anniversary and again at Christmas so she has some things for different occasions. Probably I will get her Mitsuoko, and Shalimar to kick it off.

I've finished off a few bottles lately: TF Grey Vetiver, Nishane Hacivat, Givenchy Insense Ultramarine, and Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum. Also travel sprays of Zoologist Seahorse and Taur Phtaloblue.

I have ever emptied only two 100 ml bottles. One I think was Nautica Voyage and recently I finally drained a bottle of Bogart City Tower which I bought probably in 2013.

I don't expect to finish them. It doesn't matter; I get value for my money whether or not I actually use them. There's value in the fun of making the purchase, having the ongoing option to use it and the visual appeal of the bottle. Also, I never know when I'm going to wear something someday and notice something about it I never noticed before.
For me the worst are ones that have dark or solid colour bottles and you can’t tell how much is left.
I recall some method you can use involving chilling the container because condensation forms at a different rate above the level of liquid. Maybe that applies only to products that come in cans like Rive Gauche. Either way, it's only a vague recollection so I would suggest researching it before trying it yourself.

That works for propane tanks.

Usually a flashlight as a backlight does the trick on fragrance. That worked on the Fine Italian Citrus in my opening comment.

My fragrances will outlive me. Life would be simpler if the price of 50 ml bottles was more attractive. Its hard to buy a 50 ml when it costs 90% of the price of a 100 ml.
Makes sense because 90% of the bottles won't be emptied and replaced within ten years, and anyone who actually has a signature scent is constantly promoting the brand. It is frustrating, though. Even 30mL bottles at half the price would be great for me. The thing is, their marginal cost to get you 30mL versus 100mL is near zero, so they might as well get a few more dollars for the bigger bottle.

This is the only frag out of my 150+ I have finished.

Bought two at a steal years ago and finished the first a couple summers ago. Opened my backup last week for an outdoor gathering that gloriously warm.

Lime, violet, leather.

Finish a bottle of fragrance? Ha! That’s a good one. 🤪

I have over 200 fragrances and wear one every day. I rotate thru all of them and might finish a bottle every couple of years. I do finish the odd sample or travel size though.

My kids are gonna smell great when I am 6 feet under!

I'm not quite at 200 yet @SharpieB ,without counting i'd say well over 100 though i might actually get a surprise if i do count🤗i wear the so called cheaper ones if staying at home or not going anywhere special(take a couple of the cheaper ones if i'm going on holiday/vacation), i tend to wear the more expensive ones if going somewhere special or out on the pull😅

Where do you come up with these "obvious facts"?

This may be true for a simple bay rum or something but real, quality perfume is made from expensive materials. Doubling or tripling the quantity is not a marginal cost.

#smh
