Creating a Frankenrazor...

Does anyone know if an Open Comb base plate would be compatible with an EJ DE 89L? In other words, can I use that from a different 3 piece razor to create "the EJ DE 89L OPen Comb"

I just tried it with a Muhle R89, and the Ball End Old Type base plate fits quite nicely with the R89 cap and handle. The blade exposure looks pretty aggressive though...

The R89 base does not fit on the Old Type Cap.

The Old Type handle also fits the R89 base plate and cap combo.
