Cracked finish on base plate

So I have a three piece razor that I haven't used in a while. Picked it up today and noticed the nickel? Finish has cracked. The damage seems to be isolated to the base plate. I suspect it's something with the base material and the finish. Just want to make sure I'm not doing something to cause this. Any thoughts?

I doubt very much that it is anything you have done. I agree with you about a base metal/plating issue.

Chrome over Zamak, can you return it, or contact Parker for a replacement?
