Crabtree and Evelyn soap protective seal

I was eager to try the Nomad I got for Christmas. As usual I put a little water onto the soap first and was surprised to see it run off. I soaked my brush as usual but barely got any lather. What the heck?

The joke was on me; I found there was a clear plastic protectant layer on top of the soap.

I'm just glad the giver wasn't around to see me make a fool of myself. The soap is fine.

Before you take your soap back and yell at the clerk, remove the seal .

So why do they put a "Sealed For Your Protection" seal on bleach when it's already poisonous?

I like it so far, robust lather and non-irritating shaves. A step up from VDH but not as much of a bargain. I still prefer the Mitchell Wool Fat's scent but my Significant Other prefers the Nomad. I will enjoy trying for the perfect lathering technique for both.
