Converting Dad

So, I've been working on converting my dad back to wetshaving for a couple of years. Nothing big, just letting him use my TOBS when he was over for a visit, then giving him about a half tub, and finally giving him a sample tub of JM Fraser. Basically suppying him!

The other day he calls and asks where I got the Frasers or TOBS Lavendar, which was his favorite. I told him the internet and he was upset. See, he and mom are getting ready to go on a trip, and he wanted to buy some to take with him.

He was at a store and began telling me what they had. I ended up talking him into a puck of VDH with container, and a VDH brush to take with him on his trip, with the caveat that if he does not like it, I'd buy it from him.

Fast forward a few days, and I call to see if he tried it out. He said he did, but could not get as good a lather as the cream. I told him to soak his brush, not just run it under water, and use more water.

I still haven't been able to sway him away from his disposable, but I think I'm off to a good start!

I converted my father to wet shaving last weekend. His father had never taught him to shave properly either, and he has been suffering under the multi blade delusion as well.

He watched a few of Mantic's vids with me on sat night, went out and bought a merkur future, brush and soap on sunday and rang me on sunday night to tell me how amazing it was.

It seems strange that the father was taught to shave by the son, but here we are...

I actually started DE shaving with and old Gillette adjustable that I found at my dads house. Now that I have bought another razor I have been trying to give it back to him so I can break him of his Costco sized multi blade pack habit. He hasn't seemed too interested in making the switch although he recently went back to using the Mach 3 instead of the fusion, so I guess that is a step in the right direction.
