Your plan for a Henson AL13 plus extra blades is great. I would recommend a synthetic brush, since they are softer and less likely to create a reason for wet shaving. Also, I recommend a cream (TOBS) since they are easier and make later very quick. The $6 collapsable bowl from Stirling is also the cheapest bowl and easiest to clean. It is available from Ebay and other vendors at a similar price point. You want to make this new experience as easy as you can, to limit potential excuses and ensure success. I would also ask him what his favorite scents are (floral, citrus, manly, etc.), before assuming something and purchasing an item he does not like.
