Confused, Gillette silver blues vs 7 o'clock blue box super platium

After reading a ton of reviews, it looks like I am going to ditch the Gillette 7 o'clock green(from russia) for my 3rd choice blade to one of the following two.

Gillette Silver Blues or the Gillette 7 o'clock (blue box) Super Platium. Can one and all of you please recommend which one is better and why? I am looking for the one that comes closest to the (ASTRA SP and PERSONNA REDS)

which are the ones I now use and like very much. Thanks guys.:w00t:

I like Silver Blue but they are not my favorite. For me, they are almost too sharp and I have to use them in a mild razor. But that is just me.

As for the 7 O'clock Blue (Russian or Czech made) Super Platinum, they are one of my favorite blades. On my face they feel very smooth. Last
time I used one the shave was so effortless that I had to check to make sure I had put the blade in the razor. The bad news is that they have become
very hard to find in larger quantities I don't know what their current state of production is. If you like them it may be hard to stock up.

Have you tried the Black (Indian made) 7 O'clock Super Platinum? It too is a fantastic blade. For me it is nearly identical to the Blue. If I had both
in identical razors I would have a hard time telling them apart.

Both blades are excellent. Both are liked by a lot of people here and I don't think there are very many negative comments about either. You can't go wrong with either. Just try them both and use whichever you prefer. There's a decent chance you'll like them equally well.

I find Silver Blue very similar to my go-to Astra SP blades. Although, I give the edge to Super Irrdium and 7 O'clock Black. Platinum Blue didn't work so well for me as the mentioned.

+1

Personally, I prefer the 7 O'Clock Blues over the Silver Blues - they just feel a bit smoother and closer to me. The problem is that the 7 O'Clock Blues have been out of stock (or very expensive) pretty much everywhere since January. The rumor is that they've stopped production, but I don't think anyone knows that for sure.

I like the Personna Reds, but any of the Gillettes beat the Personnas for me. The 7 O'Clock Blacks should also be on your list to try - I didn't like them as much, but many people prefer them.

Gillette Silver Blues are among the best blades available. In my view they are far superior to the 7 O'clock blues super platinum. No contest.

Well, its YMMV on this thread as all others. I just finished shaving with a brand-new Silver Blue, first time I've used them, and I think they're a good blade but not the sharpest nor the smoothest. Forgiving, like the Reds, probably due to not being as sharp as some others, and when it was all said and done, I got a good, close shave with no weepers, so I'd use them again, if it weren't for the fact that I have hundreds of Reds, which are sharper and smoother. As to the 7 o'clock Blues, they are a better blade for me than the Silver Blues by a good margin, and a little sharper than Reds. If you like a sharper blade, but don't want to sacrifice the smoothness of the Reds, my suggestion would be 7 o'clock Blacks, which are as smooth and sharp as Blues, but last longer.
My 2 cents, FWIW.

It's been a while since I used the 7 O'clock Blues but I have been using the Silver Blues almost exlusively for several weeks. The only other blade that I find sharper than the GSB is the Feather (maybe also the Kai) but the GSB is still more forgiving to me than the Feather.

I only use the GSB for (2) shaves though. I feel it lose sharpness after the first shave and by the 3rd shave it's really not sharp enough for me. (BTW - I use an R41 and I do a minium 20 minute 4 pass shave with lots of ATG action, so I give blades a pretty good workout. )

The GSB also seems to be available from various sources for aroung $20 per 100 which is less costly than all of the 7 O'clock variety of blades.
