Conditioner on my beard. Anyone else use this?

On a whim I started using some of my ladys conditioner on my beard in the shower. (Organix Ever Straight Brazillian Keratin Therapy Conditioner) I let it soak in before I use my face wash (Every Man Jack).

Has anyone else ever done this? It seems to make my shave so much smoother.

It's one element in my prep but I think it really helps.

Unrefined shea butter at night. Soak soap and brush in hot water. Shower, wash face, rinse and apply conditioner. Rinse. Leave face wet.
Lather up with MR GLO, then with water off the soap puck, leaving suds on face for a minute or two. Then lather up using brush.

My beard ends up soft and easy to cut hairs. the skin stays soft but supple- resisting nicks and abrasions perfectly.

I used conditioner to shave with using cartridge razors until getting into safety razors, works well, very slippery, a lot of people use it, women too on their legs,
cheap too.

Back in the days when the Fusions were making my face feel like raw hamburger meat, I used my mother's Avon Moisture Cream as an aftershave and used it again at bedtime if it was still irritated. So yes, I am willing to use anything that does the job.

When I shower I soap up my beard/stubble when I wash my hair (use shampoo). It "might" have conditioners in it but this is what I always have done. I let it sit on my face while I shower and rise it off just before getting out.

Always has worked for me.

On the times I shave that I have NOT showered first, I wash my face twice with glycerine soap (clear stuff like Pears or Neutrogena). This seems to be just as effective as shampoo in the shower

Yes, I use conditioner as well. I put it on my face at the end of my shower. Then, I build a lather and apply it on top of the conditioner. After that I brush my teeth and do my hair. By the time I am done with those tasks my face is ready to be shaved!

After reading the info here on Thayer's witchhazel magical powers I just had to stop by GNC to grab a bottle of this magical elixer. Well right below it was some Kiss my Face olive oil & lavender bar soap.

The last 3 shaves that I have used this soap in the shower before shaving is I believe a real game changer ! It really leaves my skin feeling great & it seems to really help on not getting razor burn. YMMV !

Give it a shot guy's I highly recommend it !

I use conditioner, as my beard is rather coarse, and I believe it helps to soften it before a shave. Just remember, never use "strengthening" conditioner, but instead, look for "softening" conditioner. You want to make things easier for yourself, not harder!

Good quality conditioner (non-strenthening) is great for beard prep. It's even better though for keeping a beard in good shape and non itchy if you are growing one. Not that...I would know anything about that....

Ive used it from time to time in the shower if I happen to shave a 2-3 day growth. It may just be the hype but it does seem to soften the beard a little.

I thought this thread was about something else.

Like all of you men, I have a beard--but I don't shave all of it off like most of you do. I actually do use conditioner on my beard, at least the part that I do not shave. I use a leave-in conditioner on my beard and hair (what's left of it), and it works wonders.

Now, the part I shave, I just soften it up with a hot shower, soap, and a washcloth...

I used to do this, but I know a lot of gents still do it. I did this before getting a glycerin body soap bar. I didn't like how difficult it was washing the conditioner off, so now I just use the glycerin soap. As near as I can tell it works just as well as the conditioner as a pre-shave prep. FWIW the conditioner worked just fine as a pre-shave prep.

Fridays are Fishtastic!
I don't use conditioner, but shampoo. I lather my hair and beard, wash the body, rinse body, then rinse hair and face. I then towel off (not the face) and shave. It works great for me.

I found Olive & Honey - they didn't have lavender, but this was on sale for $1.97! I've only tried this for three days but it does seem to work.
