Common Thuringian dimensions

Hi,
I'm shadowing what I suspect to be a couple of thuris on the bay and was wondering about their sizes. One measures approx 6 1/2 x 1 3/4 x 3/8 and the other measures 7 x 2 x 5/8. Do either of these sound like standard thuri sizes to you guys?

The most common thuri sizes are 5x1, 6x1, and 7x1.5. They also came in larger cuts somewhat rarely, and a few different barbers cuts (5x2.5, 6x2, similar). Those are the only ones I'd consider typical. Really, 7x1.5 and 5x1 and maybe 6x1 are the only sizes I'd consider the cut to be an indicator (though certainly not guarantee) of a thuri. The rest just don't rule a thuri out. Neither do the sizes you mention. There are odd cuts out there and there are standard cuts that were cut to make slurries later, or were a bit large or small because the rock had an imperfection at a certain point so they just cut around it.

Yep. I've actually got an 8x2. I definitely wouldn't use 8x2 as a thuri indicator though as there are a LOOOOOOOT of 8x2 oil-crusted washita's that look an awful lot like a thuri in a grainy pic.

Well i'll never know if either was a thuri or not, forgot to. I'd on one and it went for less than 20 euros, the bigger one went for more than I was willing to go at 51 euros. Still, I don't need them so I'm not too bothered. Looks like I'm starting to learn self control or should that be HAD control.

all joking aside that is one of the smaller ones i made.... most of the ones i use are between 8/8ths and 10/8ths....

i don't care for little razors...

but i do love my little thuri hone.... *(haven't used it much lately.... need to break it out for a bit)...

yeah you'd probably like my little YG thuri its 5x1 instead of 4.5x1 nice hone i just cant use the damn thing

you will learn... be patient... no one learned to hone in a day...

*(except that one dude with the ultimate coti and the 10,000$ worth of grinders he bought after 10 days of straight shaving so he could start razor production......)
