Col. Conk Brush?

I found a Col. Conk badger brush when I first started down the road of DE wetshaving for I think $24 at the Tinder Box. It shed quite a few hairs with ever shave for the first 2-3 months, which I assumed was a bit excessive, but understandable because of the price I paid. When it's dry, it looks fine, but there are large gaps in the middle of the knot when it's wet. I went back to my el-cheapo VDH boar brush and have had much better results. I also like the bigger knot and higher loft the VDH boar gives me.

Now that I think of it, I'm not positive it is badger. The brush states "pure bristle", but I'm not sure if that means pure badger, or some synthetic material. It doesn't seem to soak up much water the way badger is supposed to. Then again, I've never used a high-end badger brush.

Has anybody else had issues with Col. Conk brushes?

My first brush was a Conk badger that didn't shed but was a bit floppy.I think I paid maybe 40 bucks for it,it did the job,but it was way to floppy for me.

I have a Col Conk pure badger, bought it in 2010,and haven't had any problems with it. Actually,I recently ordered a Col Conk silvertip,as my first silvertip.

"Pure bristle" usually means boar.

+1 i don't think these brushes are very highly regarded and if you want a good boar, i would suggest a Semogue, such as the 830 which might be the best overall baor, in my opinion. Good luck.
If you want a good badger brush, TGN makes some very good ones or even Vintage Blades has their own brand of badger brushes that are supposed to be very good.
