Cobra?

I have been shaving for many years and I am very proficient with DE razors. I have also used standard straights, off and on. Currently my most used razor is the Feather Artist Club, and I also am awaiting delivery of a KAI Captain. Both of these razors use either Feather or KAI blades, which I consider to be the sharpest blades that I have ever used.

The Cobra, which I believe is designed to use Feather Pro blades, consistently gets rave reviews here, and I have toyed with the idea of getting one. I would like to hear from those who have used both the Feather AC (or KAI) and the Cobra, as to the shaving experience of one versus the other. Thanks.

They are excellent, but if you've already got a Feather and are getting a Kai, there's not a whole lot of difference in feel. They handle is big and sort of awkward if you aren't used to it. I recently had the Cobra on the Cobra Classic Tour, and the line is really short right now. You may want to PM the OP of that thread and see if you can join the tour, and you'll only have to pay to ship it to the next person after.

I know there are other members that can probably speak to your question, but I took liberties of pulling two comments out of the Cobra Classic tour thread that directly addresses your question.

After a week of shaving with the cobra (most expensive razor I ever bought) I have to agree that it's one hell of a razor! Love the way it feels in my hands. It can give me great shaves with only 2 WTG passes. Works great for head shaves also. It won't push my Feather Artist Club razor from the throne but it's allowed to stay in my rotation.

So I am now on my third shave the with Cobra , using the Kai blade. I am really pleased with the razor. I don't have the vocabulary to make a good review, but at least I can now compare it to my favorite razor, the Feather Artist club SS. For me the feather is still N°1. I prefer the lightweight, and the fact that you can adjust the angle in a wide range, while the Cobra is pretty much on "auto pilot", like injectors are. Otherwise it delivers a smooth shave with zero irritation.

Good idea!

Thanks poonjaji, that's the kind of information I was looking for.

I prefer both my Feather Artist Club SS (non-folding) and Kai Captain (folding) over my Cobra Classic, which I probably haven't used in well over a month now. It's strange, because I loved the CC for the first month or so after I first got it.

The Cobra Classic gives a pretty close shave, as close as the Muhle 2011 R41 but without any irritation. The Feather AC gives a very close shave. I'm not quite proficient with it and am prone to giving myself nicks and slices with it.

The Cobra is pretty much the "Gold Standard" for me currently. I own, or have owned, all of the other "must have" razors - or at least most of them - and I find the Cobra at the top of the heap. I've just ordered a new Feather SS Folder - I'm hoping I can eventually get a decent shave with it as well.

Sorry to change the direction of the thread, but does anyone know what the base material the cobra classic is made of? I've been close to ordering it a dozen times, but I have never been able to find that information.
