Classic Short Back and Sides Haircuts

I have recently went to a classic side part style, tapered tight around the ears and in the back, and longer on top which I keep pomaded back to stay slick. I am seeing more and more guys have their barber razor the part into their head. It looks really sharp but is it worth the effort it takes to maintain it? Anybody out there doing this? can you give me feedback?

does the barber do this with a clippers or a straight razor? i don't know...i've had this haircut for years and never once has the barber carved a line into my head to indicate a "part". that's what combs are for. frankly it sounds hokey and counterintuitive. scissors and a halfway skilled barber do the job well enough.

I would love a razored part in my hair but its recovering form being cropped so will take a little time yet I got the classic short back and sides yesterday,so will report back next haircut.

You just cant beat a classic British short back 'n' sides. When I was a kid my dad would take me to his mate from his army days for a short back 'n' sides. A little older I seeked out an old barber who could do this classic style. Now adays I get my hair cut short but still have the length left so when I'm feeling 'trendy' I slick it with some gel and short back 'n' side it is.

I love the classic cut, and recently converted my younger brother as well. He was sporting a big ole mop, looks much better now. He is even considering going for a high and tight next time we visit the barber!

Quite common for the original (1966-1970) Skinheads to have a 'part' razored in, this was a copy of the Jamaican Rudeboys.

One of the guys at the staion has the Caribean razor parting. THe cut hair is cut way down down low to the scalp and then a straight line razored in. Looks like it was done with a rule and pencil it's so straight. Not for me but it suits some.

Well after deciding it wasn't for me, my barber suggested a razor part today, which I am now proudly sporting, complete with a higher fade and a burgeoning pomp... love it - the razored part is only a few mm wide, just enough to be noticeable and gives a superb defined line to the parting, almost an arrow like point from certain angles... I reckon it'll make it much easier to find the parting in the morning rush too, but could easily be obscured if necessary...

I'm trying to get something like this:

First attempt was OK, but they left it too long. Want it shorter everywhere.

They call it a Military Rockabilly.
