I watched it last night and damn... it is a perfect popcorn movie. I was gripping my seat most of the movie lol. Have you guys watched it yet? It is a world away from the early 80s version. Awesomeness!

I liked it alot but it needed a more epic battle against the Kraken.

yup. I thought the kraken scene was too short. I was expecting to see a longer battle.

As panned as it was, the original was an all-star cast of well established journeymen actors.

My wife went to see it opening day as she loves the 80's version. She enjoyed the special effects, but felt the story strayed.

I keep mixing up the original one with Jason and the Argonauts.

Ok so here is my take on the movie. I like Liam Neeson as Zeus and Hades looked perfectly scummy. The fact that Bubo made a cameo albeit short was excellent. Sam Worthington made a good Perseus. Pegasus and the Kraken looked fantastic. I didn't like the fact that we didn't get a helmet that rendered Perseus invisible or the fact that there was no Burgess Meredith type character to guide/train Perseus. I also much preferred Calibus as a Satyr in the original as opposed to an ugly wreck in this version. I would have like just a tad more involvement by the other gods. As far as the fight scene with the Kraken it was enough for me. There really wasn't much of a battle in the original either, I mean don't get hit and turn the thing to stone. No need to drag it out.

All in all I'd give it a B- maybe a B overall. I'd watch it again, though I probably won't buy it on Blu-Ray when it comes out.
