Christmas Gift Gandfathers shaving items Priceless

I got a surprise for Xmas that I was not expecting. My grandmother gave me my grandfathers shaving mug with soap still in it and a nylon brush. I do not know the age of the items or the value because to me they are priceless. My mom had told her that I started wet shave and she dug them out from who knows where. My grandfather past away back in 1976 when I was 9 years old. She did not know how old the items were but she said that he had used an electric razor for years, which I was given several years ago but have never used. None the items have maker marks on them and they not top of the line products but they are mine and I am happy with that. I will be trying them Saturday which is the day that I save for my good shave.

Nice- I like the flat-top on the handle.

The red dot on your mug is the remainder of the Seaforth logo. This is a Seaforth mug. Seaforth made aftershave, mugs, and matching soap (which is awesome tallowy goodness), and was a competitor of Old Spice.

Great gift. Some nice shaving treasure you have there.

That is a sweet memory of your granddad! Try the soap, and if you like it, use it. I would display the mug and the brush in your shave den.

That is awesome.

I inherited an old Auto Strop military kit from my Grandfather. I never knew him but it gives me a great connection to him.

Congrats.

Wow:w00t: I am surprised that you guys were able to identify the mug. I was talking to my Mother to day and emailed her a picture of the ad and she says she remembers seeing my grandfather using the shaving lotion jug. It brought back some nice memories:biggrin1:. Thank you for the information.

That is Awesome. I got to spend some time with both my grandfathers over the weekend, but neither one of them have any of there old shaving gear.

I finally have a weekend that was not full of stuff to do. I have used the soap and the brush for my Saturday and Sunday shaves. I do not know what brand of soap is in the mug but that stuffs makes great lather:thumbup:. I used the nylon brush and face lathered on Saturday and my badger brush and face lathered on Sunday. Both day I had plenty of rich thick lather for 3 passes and touch up. I like this soap better than the modern soap I have been using. I think I will use the soap for those special shaves. The brush did a fine job but I think I will just put that up on the shelf for decoration and the memories.
