Cheap Brush for the Wife

I'm looking for a cheap:eek: yet nice brush to give the wife for her try at wetshaving. I'm thinking it'd be best to be a larger brush due to the amount of area that needs to be covered. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm looking to stay under $20.

Although not a huge brush, The Body Shop synthetic is a good one to start with to see how it all works. Then upgrade to a nice big badger down the road. Feels softer to use than a boar brush right off the bat.

If you have the skills, turn a long handle and mount a goldennib 26/28mm knot in it - my other half often uses my 28mm silvertip for legs as it's so soft and provides good coverage due to size.

You are so busted  the LOTH was reading over my shoulder when she saw your post. Her exact words, "Why should his wife get a CHEAP brush!?!"

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Search the Bay, you can probably find one of those cheap Chinese badger brushes in a larger size at an affordable price.

Hey, we started out cheap! Well most of us, I'm sure some people here went straight for the big guns!

I'd suggest getting her a nicer boar brush. They are quality but inexpensive. Like the Omega Pro series. If you get something too cheap, she will hate it and won't want to use it. YMMV, of course.

This is true, I'd be afraid of her not thinking it was soft enough though. However the Pro series are cheap, large brushes with large handles as well so they do fit the criteria. The 98 is nice choice for the handle.

Any brush should be pretty soft for legs. They are meant to be used on much more sensitive facial skin. A decent boar would be low in price and of good quality. Also good for exfoliation. The VD Hagen badger is inexpensive, soft, and has a fairly tall loft. It's a bit on the loosely packed side, though.

My better half was watching me shave last night while she was in the tub and asked to try one of my DE's and used the same soap and brush as I used for my head and face.
It was a boar brush I picked up at Walmart VDH in a kit with bowl mug and soap. Under $10 bucks.

Because she might not like it and there's no need to drop a lot of cash on a tester  You can always upgrade to a nicer brush if she wants later..... that's what most buys do for their face brush, right?

Anyways, isn't a brush a bit of overkill for the legs? I thought most women just used a brushless cream or soap?

just my .02865 cents

I'm currently using a super uber cheap boar brush from wallyworld (can't get much cheaper than that) with soap and it works great for the legs actually.

I'm thinking that if word of this thread gets out, you might end up in the doghouse. It might be a wise move to proactively defend yourself against such a strike by surprising her with with a Plisson horn HMW size 20. See, I've got your back. Besides, if she decides it's not for her then you end up with a really nice brush!:idea::thumbsup:

:lol::lol: You can tell your wife she's getting a :w00t:CHEAP:w00t: brush because she gives up on things a lot and we have a 5month old so $$ is tight.

WARNING:

Don't let your wife see that you told the entire world that she needs a big brush to cover the large area that is represented by her legs.
