Challenges of using a Slant?

Something about the DE Slants intrigues me, and I'm thinking about adding a few to my collection. But, I've seen some posts that imply the slant is more difficult to use than the typical DE razor. I've looked through the Wiki, but can't seem to find any information on techniques or differences between a regular DE. Can someone please advise, or point me in the right direction to the documentation? I need further education. Strange how I almost hunger for knowledge when it comes to DE razors...Thanks!

for me:
make sure the blade is properly aligned..the head adjustment is not foolproof

Other than that, it works for me as any other razor..I've been shaving for a year and my technique has improved greatly in the last 2-3 months

If the technique is the same, then what advantage does the slant give you? Is it just more aggressive, or is it about the ability of the blade to give you a slightly different angle on the hairs w/o adjusting technique?

I'm finding it hard to move from my sledgehammer slant back to my HD because it's so much heavier. Now the HD feels like a piece of plastic or something.

I use a slant with Feather blade. IMHO, the slant is actually smoother than a non-slant due to the slicing action. The only problem with the slant is the lack of feedback because it is so smooth, so you have to be careful.

Use a light hand, and go easy. You will get a closer comfortable shave.

OBTW - I have a gold slant and it is a gorgeous razor. RECOMMENDED.

No challenges whatsoever. In fact, it makes a pleasant, close shave so easy that it becomes almost boring, and you'll go out and buy something else to try.

Does this just mean to make sure the blade is equidistant from the sidebar all the way across the blade when it's tightened down?

The blade should sit in there properly aligned if you have a quality slant. Don't worry about it..Just shave:thumbup1:

There is some confusion as to what properly aligned is. I use a 37C, and there is play between aligned with the cap and aligned with the bar. For my part, I have not noticed one bit of difference in the shave - it seems to be great either way.

Just tried my first shave with a slant this morning, and it was awesome! This razor was a dramatic improvement over my Parkur 98R!

I noticed the blade didn't automatically drop into alignment when I tightened it down, also. After a bit of experimenting (before my first shave with it) I found I could get it properly centered and hold it in place by the sides while I tightened the screw up pretty easily.
