Cella

IS it just me or are there others who really can't stand the smell of Cella? I can't fault its performance but the smell makes me feel ill. Anyone else with this issue?

I'm fairly new to wetshaving and have never tried Cella. What does it smell like to you? I have had shaving soaps in the past that have made me feel ill (van der haagen for some reason does, some days TOBS sandalwood does). I'll take yours to try if you don't want it :innocent:

Smells to me like very old marzipan, sweetish almond, not what I want when I've not long been out of bed.

I absolutely love the smell of Cella.

If you don't, I've heard that the Razorock Artisan line has very similar performance with different scents.

+1 they perform very close to the same as cella, without the marzipan scent. I'm thinking those would be a good route for ya.

It's a little sweet but I like it. I usually don't like fragrances or air fresheners that small like anything edible. I have noticed with cella and other soaps that if you leave it stand open for a few weeks the scent subsides.

The old discontinued P.160 had the best almond scent of any soap I have tried.

It has been gone for several years now. Too bad, it was a nice product.

Cella has an acceptable scent. One that I am willing to overlook because it is such a good soap

I just bought some. I'm still on the fence about it. I really want to like it but the scent to me doesn't even smell like sweet almonds/marzipan, it kind of smells like a sweet Arko-ish smell... which I don't really like. Verdict is still out though.

I prefer the green labeled Vitos Supercrema. I get equally good, or slightly better lather quality than with Cella. On top of that the Supercrema has a clean soap scent. If you have used the Valobra stick you have an idea about the scent.

I love the scent of the soap in the container. However, to me...once lathered up, it takes on an entirely different smell that I do not like at all.
I still use it on occasion though, it's a good performer and I already have it, might as well use it. I doubt I'll finish it before it "goes bad" it's already a year old and still 80% full.

My father was Italian, so I believe I was born with the gene for loving all things almond scented (sans cyanide) In fact, I think his side of the family considered you a heretic if you didn't like the smell of almonds. But, with all things, one man's cure is another man's poison.

I agree 100% on the P.160, I love both performance and scent. Cella performs very well but I can't love the scent; for me it is just so-so.

I am working on the last part of my 1kg brick of Cella and I am pretty sure it will be the last of Cella for me; too many better scented options out there with equally good or better performance.

I love the scent, but love the performance even more. I must be weird though, I'm not fond of the Clubman scents after trying to like them.

Give me a Semogue SOC loaded with Cella, then a shave with a Red Tip and a Feather blade. Followed that up with an Aqua Velva Blue Ice splash, and I'm in heaven.

I love the scent, but if you don't, you might try leaving the tub uncovered for a few days. The scent will probably fade.
