Castle and Forbes

I have been reading suggestions for creams and don't see many for Castle and Forbes is there a reason for that?

Castle Forbes (it's not two peoples' names, it's the perfumery at the Forbes clan castle in Scotland) is pretty well liked (their lime is amazing, from the samples I've sniffed), but it's also expensive as all get-out. A tub of the stuff costs nearly $40. I think people don't recommend it much because if you want to the tune of $40 a tub, you'll buy it without prompting.

You're probably not seeing them come up in your searches because the name is "Castle Forbes" - no "and" in there.

Anyways, those creams are nearly universally loved, but they're priced way out what most of us could afford for an every-day product.

One thing that I will say in defense of the price is that the cream (and the pre-shave, for that matter) are incredibly long lasting. I use only a tiny amount of the cream and it seems to last forever. I have been using a travel-size bottle of the pre-shave every day for the last two months and more than half of the contents remain. Worth considering.

Absolutely +1

I cant speak first hand about it, but my brother has a tub of Castle Forbes that he likes better than anything else he shaves with (soap or cream). I did not know if he wanted to spend the money, but he seems more than happy with it.

Castle Forbes is without a doubt the "cream" of luxury creams. It is very firm and somewhat soap-like to the touch, but with a SMALL amount on the brush you could give yourself an eight pass shave if you really wanted and never run out of lather. Also the most moisturizing cream out there. I got the small travel size, and since I don't plan to use it other than special occasions, or really cold, dry winter days, I didn't mind the price so much. I could easily get by with Musgo Real and Proraso for everyday creams and CF Lavender as the special stuff, although I like to have a dozen or so just for fun and variety.

So, my A-Team for a big date on a frigid winter day would be: CF Lavender with a 7 O'Clock blade in my Jagger DE, followed by Thayer's lemon witch hazel, cold water, then Trumper's Limes Skin Food.

First and foremost, welcome to B&B!
I guess by now you have changed your search to read "Castle Forbes" instead of "Castle and Forbes"
Now you know. CF is in a class by itself. There are a very small handful of creams that compare and the rather lengthy reviews will bear that out. It can be a bit tricky to build that perfect lather, but the learning curve is well worth it.

Thanks for all the replies. What are some of the other creams that are in the range of CF?

The Castle Forbes tubs are also larger than most other creams, also they work so well, you use very little product per shave, so I would guess the cost per shave is comparable if not better than most other creams. JM Frasers cream is one nothing can touch for price per shave though.

CF Lavender is the nicest cream I've ever put on my face. I also purchased a tub of AOS Lavender at Nordstram's ($22), and it is also a top notch cream, and less expensive.
